Ramblings of a mom on a roll...
Sep. 19, 2006 - Bria
Posted in Pets

LOL, I'll have to find a better picture tomorrow.

This is Bria, our Throughbred.  She is getting up in age so we don't ride her anymore.  She use to race, then she was a broodmare being bred with a Percheron stud.  We bought her after all that and gave her twenty acres to play on.  When she first arrived, she was so scared of everything.  She had never really had freedom.  To ride her out into the woods,  we would have to take one of the minis to show her the path was safe.  She was scared of a plowed field.  She was scared of sticks.  She's not scared anymore.  Bria is one of the sweetest horses I've ever had the pleasure to meet.

~~Bria died December 25, 2006, in the Christmas tornado.  Bria rest in peace.  We love you.

How goes life with MIL? I think about you often. My MIL has not spoken to me for 2 weeks. She was holding out hope that I would give up on the home school idea, and put the kids in public school. This is the end of our second week, and she hasn't spoken to us since we started....such is life. We're sad. We love her, and want a good relationship with her. I guess we just continue to pray, as we do for your situation. You are frequently in my prayers....that God would continue to give you the grace you need to deal with your living arrangement. And girl....the snakes!!! I'd take the MIL over the snakes any day! YIKES!! I could hardly stand to read about them....I admire your courage, and willingness to be the cool mom and let your kids have their dreams. You're a good one.....have a lovely weekend my friend, and keep me posted on how life is going "behind the scenes".

Love, Kathy

Hey Vicki. Making the butter is really easy! All you do is get a small glass jar with a tight fitting lid. I used a small canning type jar, but I've heard baby food jars work well too. Fill your jar half way with whipping cream ... put the lid on tight and start shaking! You have to shake it for about 15 mins. You can pass the jar around and let everyone take turns shaking it. You'll notice it starts to thicken. We stopped once it was creamy, like soft butter. Then, for taste and to help preserve it, it's good to add a little salt to it.
Have fun!
