Ramblings of a mom on a roll...
May. 18, 2007 - Great News!!

The noon news reported that there is currently only 173 fires still burning and out of these only one still poses any danger which isn't much at this time.  Yeah!!  The fire that was burning close to us, is 80% contained and no longer a threat!!   Thank you, Jesus!  Thank you, Firefighters!  They said the firefighters are mopping it up.  (This expression makes me giggle as they  don't really mop it up, lol.)

News being news, and loosing this dire news story, they need to try and keep people stressed.  So they no sooner tell us the fire danger is near gone, so now worry about hurricanes!  ROFL!!!  Don't get me wrong, hurricanes can be scary, but I've lived in Florida now most of my life and have been through lots of hurricanes, my first being David, Andrew to name another, Floyd, Hugo, Charlie, Francis and Ivan, to name a few other notable ones, (please, hurricanes, don't feel slighted if I missed your name) anyway, my point being, that we know how to stay safe and know when to run if necessary.  I predict that the news will go wild shouting all the early warnings they can to keep everyone panicked.  If a major hurricane threatens us, rest assured, that we will be safe, trusting the Lord to see us through this, too.

Thank you all for keeping us in your prayers as these fires raged.  The Lord answered.  The fires are going out.  Halleluiah!!!

I am so glad!!!! It's funny that you mention hurricanes. It's about time for me to start watching for them on the news. :) My hubby accuses me of having a distaster fixation, because I love distaster movies (Armagidon, Deep impact, The Day After Tomorrow, Dante's Peak, just to name a few). Two years ago, my SIL was suppose to go to Naples to visit her parents, well when she was suppose to go, Hurricane Wilma decided to head for Naples also. So she was suppose to fly into Fort Myers the about the day it was suppose to hit and she thought maybe she could get in before it hit and help her parents evacuate, of course my brother did not like this idea at all!!! Luckily, they closed Ft. Myers airport the day before she was to fly in, so she couldn't go. Everyone assured her it was better this way, so no one would have to wait around for her at the airport they could just evacuate. Can you believe her parents (and a few others from her family) decided not to evacuate? Hurricane Wilma was a very powerful storm! My SIL was not too happy with her family. Here she thought they were getting safely away, just to find out later they didn't. Luckily everyone was ok.

May. 21, 2007 - I have some names for you...

Two names for the bantams, how about Beaker and Picadilly?
I usually like seeing cats before I name them, but we've been listening to a lot of sea shanties lately so Moonshine and Starbuck (the mate, not the coffee) came to mind. In the Amelia Peabody mysteries, all their cats are named after Egyptian gods, because the Emersons were archeologists. T.S. Eliot's Book of Practical Cats is another great source for names. I always liked Growltiger and Rumpleteazer.
Is Peanut one of the horses? Because Granola would be logical from a Peanut.
Hope I haven't overwhelmed you. Find your inspiration in whatever books you're reading right now!
Peace and Laughter,
Cristina
