The Olympics are off to a great start and this is the first year that the Summer games have held much importance to my ten year old. We gathered as a family on our big comfy couch and watched the opening ceremony. We set the DVR to record all the games and have dedicated the next two weeks to cheering on the American athletes. Along with watching the games, many questions get asked so we've been keeping a laptop close so we can quickly get the answers. (I love the internet!)
Just thought I'd share a couple of these Olympic links. ;-)
Hey, I DID get to see one of those cool Olympic moments I mentioned! Although my intention is to only watch Olympics in the evening (otherwise I'd get nothing done), my son had them on for a short while early this afternoon. I watched with him just long enough to see a guy from Togo win a bronze medal in whitewater kayaking-- which Spaz says is Togo's first Olympic medal ever. Too cool! I didn't see the medal ceremony-- I don't think they showed it-- but I am hoping they'll show it tonight during prime time. They do that sort of thing sometimes.
I told Spaz that if he wanted to watch Olympics during the day, we could make it "school" and he could write up a few reports on events & athletes. he declined, as I suspected he would. Actually he is free to watch them once he gets his chores/etc done for the day, but that hasn't happened yet. Which is good for me, b/c if they are on, I won't be getting *my* work done.
Oh, btw, I realized that I meant to say the *butterfly* stroke looks funny, not the breast-stroke. So I corrected that in my post.
