Ramblings of a mom on a roll...

Santa has gone and I realize I'm behind in updating my blog.   Be right back with an update and while you wait, here's a few pics for your entertainment.

Be forworned dear friends, the above picture is of my 16 yo daughter who starts college this month and my 11 yo unschooled son who has decided to grow his hair down his back.  I know many of you will cringe at the concept that I'm going to allow this.  I have my moments of wishing he wanted to be more conventional myself but ultimately, it is his hair and it's beautiful hair to boot.

Other famous men have grown thier hair and on this note, I'll also mention that he has his father's full support (more so then me!) My spouse tried to grow his hair when he was a teen and came across a major road block;  pre-mature balding.  He was near bald by 19.   My spouse's opinion is to let him enjoy it while he has it and his sister's love it too.

I'll continue to post pictures and hope you all don't freak out too much.   Now,  off to change the winter scene and update this blog!

C ya soon!

Vicki ~ the unconventional mom

Those are great pics, and hey, there's a lot worse things he could want to do, growing hair long, no biggie in my book. :)

I finally convinced Spaz to get a haircut just before Christmas. He got a couple inches taken off and the front cut into long bangs. It's still long-ish, but looks better than before. Everyone agrees w/me except Hubz, he of the 14-inch ponytail. (He keeps saying he's going to get his cut too, but I think he only intends to get a few inches off. Personally I think a 3- or 4-inch ponytail would be nice.)

Hair, no biggie. (Spaz' only bothered me b/c I hated the way it looked on HIM. Likewise Hubz- a shorter ponytail would look much better, imo.) Tattoos are a different story. I'm still not sure what to think of parents who would "let" their kid get a tattoo on her 18th bday. Parents like Hubz & me. But hey. At least the tattoo was a Bible verse, so I guess we must have done *something* right.

Jan. 15, 2009 - Love the Kitty!!

How adorable, I'd love to have that beauty. I used to dress up my cats when I was little and they didn't seem to care, I tried dressing up our cat and he would act paralyzed and just fall on his side every single time!

Not that it matters, but I think it's great that you are letting your son grow his hair long. Hair is sooo not a fight worth having. My own mother dyed my hair (and my sister's) a number of colors with her own hands. Hey, if that's the worst thing we were doing....
