Today

I recently heard this on the radio "Q-  if a woman has one of these it will add 7 hours to her work load each week.  A- a husband"  I go on record as saying that is NOT true with my Steve.  Today we celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary!

It's Over

Somehow I suffered through the last half of Hamlet.  Never again say I.

On a different thought.
I believe that when God cursed the ground
that He said "Let there be bindweed"!

SHAKESPEARE

Recently I agreed to watch Romeo & Juliet
with my daughter.
It has been years and I had forgotten some of
the story.  They are declaring love for one another when just an hour previous they didn't even know one anothers names.  Then a few days later they are getting married.
I kept saying "just a few hours ago they didn't even know each others names".  MaKayla kept telling me that I was ruining the story...
Fast forward to today.
Hamlet...now this one has proven to be very painful!
5 hours later with 3 breaks, 1 nap, 3 extra strength Excedrin and supper we are only to the intermission!!
I have to keep the words on the screen just to understand what they are saying.
I'm wondering how many hours it is going to take to avenge his father's murder?!
For you Shakespeare fans, I do NOT know how you do it.
I hope she doesn't want to experience any more of his writings.  They are just to painful for me to suffer through!

Monday morning

The last 2 inches of rain came down and no water came up so the basement
is drying out.
Next phase is to patch the seams e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e!
The weekend was fun.  Something we need to have more of.
I spent a lot of time puttering, pulling, planting flowers and my garden!
Saturday night we went to a PRCA rodeo.  It was cold but fun.
I saw some firsts and I've been a rodeo fan forever.
The bulls won, not one cowboy could stay on.
A steer wrestler grab his steer and the two of them rolled together leaving the steer
unable to walk out!  The vet had to come into the arena and they loaded him and
took him out.  Later it was announced that the steer was okay.
They were letting high school kids enter the events.
A girl was roping the head and a guy the feet in the team roping.
She caught the head and that silly calf ran right into the front of her partners
horse knocking all 3 of them to the ground.  It was a tangled mess and required
several people to get them free from one another.  The calf ran off, and eventually the
boy and horse limped off.  It made me sick to my stomach, it looked really serious.
They allowed a little boy who was probably 4 or 5 to help Miss Rodeo America head the steers back
where they needed to be.  He sat his little pony and handled it as if he'd done so all of his
young life: they didn't need to tell him what to do.
Another cowboy was leaning off his horse to make a grab for his steer when he lost his balance
and ended up grabbing his horse around the neck and literally running along side of the
horse. That cowboy had the wildest look on his face when he was finally  able to
stop running!
And Max Reynolds the famous cowboy with his trick riding and roping was there performing!
Steve started a new training method with the dog.  That has been interesting and I think
it is going to work out well.  We've never had a big dog in the house before and
the rules are much the same but Kassie has lots of energy!
This is MaKayla's last week of school.  She is on major overload...stress.  I'll be glad
when it's over so she can take a breath and relax. The tests are done she just needs
to finish her Biology unit and complete and give her presentation for the semester.
Oh, I almost forgot.  She will be dissecting a snake today and I will have to be
the one to document it in pictures...creeping me out.  I barely made it through
the rat.  It's not the dissection that bothers me its the rat and snake!!
She is 1 credit short of graduating
and so she will finish that up this summer and graduate in August!!!!!!!!!!!
Public school even though it was a charter school did not work out for her.
It was good in a few ways and very bad in most things. I'm not very tolerant of other people
teaching my children if they don't carry through with what we agreed to.
We feel as if we were double crossed.  It started out great but 6 weeks into
the school year the "big dogs" let 4 of the 5 high school teachers go.  That
left one teacher for 38 kids more or less.  The faculty was not to blame and they
did the best they could under the circumstances.  The MAIN reason we sent
her there was to have one on one teachers for her upper math and science.
It ended up that she basically  home schooled herself in their environment.
But they agreed to accept her last credit if I home schooled it for her this summer.
For that we are grateful because there is no way she was going back in the fall.
So taking a deep breath I'm going to get on with today.

Tuesday's water report

The water continues to seep into the basement from the floor
and around the walls.  New places are appearing wet.
It's supposed to rain for two days.
sigh...
