Apr. 21, 2006 It's a Work Day
It has been busy around here, we are still trying to
sell the house and this Sunday we are having an open house. This week
has been spent preparing for that. Today 1 ton of bark is being
delivered and Dh and I are going to put that down in the yard. Grandma
is coming over to play with the kids.
I am still praying and hoping we do sell in the next month, but I
have resolved that if it does not happen then it's God's will and
that is ultimatly what I want. The hardest part is "not knowing",
especially since my personality is to plan everything out. That is
where trust and faith come in!
The kids are finally well again. They are really into playing
with umbrella's lately. They carry them around the house, outside and
Jess even sleeps with hers propped up over her head like a "tent".
Ok, I am back. The phone rang and some people were coming over to look
at the house so I ran like a mad-woman to clean and get out of here!
Better go, the bark is calling!
Updates soon!

Apr. 9, 2006 Week's Review
It's sunday night and our past week was a tough one. Ry did get sick
with the flu as well and Jess is still fighting it off. Grandma has it
as well. Such a nasty bug!! We managed to get lots of work done around
the house over the weekend, cleaned out the garage, stained the decks
and fences, and more cleaning. I pray that our house will sell soon!
Jess was in the tub tonight and Bailey cat decided he wanted to check
it out too, I am pretty sure he just meant to prowl around the
perimeter of the bath tub but it was wet and slippery and next thing I
know there is a wet "rat" scampering out of the tub! He fell in! Hubby
was on the floor dying of laughter while I grabbed a towel to dry and
calm him. Jess wasn't even fazed, just continued her play with her bath
toys.
This week Hubby will have his 39th birthday, so we will have a family
party for him on sunday which is also Easter. I also hope to take the
kids to the library if they are feeling up to a trip out. Since the
flowers are in bloom I think we will try to work in some lessons on
flowers that the kids would enjoy. School is really on the back burner
right now with the house thing keeping us so busy, but one way or
another it will settle down and we can get back into a routine.
In the meantime I will continue to praise God for his faithfulness to
our family and especially for keeping me healthy so that I may take
care of my babies! Goodnite!

Apr. 5, 2006 Does anyone have any Bug spray?
On monday my little
Jess came down with a fever and started vomiting. By tuesday morning
she was running a fever of 105 and the lowest I could get it down to
with medicine and cool compresses was 101.5. She started a nasty cough
and was lifeless on the sofa all day long. No interest in toys or food
After talking with her pediatrician and my Dad (who watches the news
faithfully and knows what is going on!) I found out there is a late
season flu bug outbreak around here. Oh dear! The aquarium was really a
sess-pool of germs!! This morning however she is better thank the Lord!
Fever is down and she is playing with her toys again.
I can only pray that Ry does not catch this. I am regretting my
decision to skip the flu-shots this year. I may seriously re-consider
for next year.
I am thankful no one called and wanted to see the house yesterday, I would have had to turn them down.
Today we will spend re-grouping, reading books, playing with toys and laundry.
Keep well!

Apr. 1, 2006 Something's Fishy!!
Today we took the kids to the Seattle Aquarium! They had a wonderful
time looking at all the fish, sea otters, seals, and
various sea life. It was crowded however so next time we will go
during the week.
Our home waits for a buyer and I have been continuously cleaning and
organizing since it went on the market. It has never looked better!
That is one way to get all those house "projects" done, just put your
house for sale
I am trying my very best to trust in the Lord for his will to be done
in this situation. I keep finding myself worrying or thinking on
the situation and then I have to remind myself (over and over) that God
is in control!!
Only he knows if this other house is the right fit for our family.
I ordered some spanish DVD's for the kids and they arrived today!
Jess is picking up this second language as fast as I can teach it to
her, which is not very fast (oh how I wish I was more attentive during
HS spanish class ). The videos will help, pretty soon she will be
talking fluently and I wont understand what she is saying !
She is very interested in knowing what things are in "spanish" she is
always asking me "Mama, whats this in spanish" which usually requires a
trip to the bookshelf to look in the spanish/english dictionary.
Yesterday during a diaper change (nope not yet potty trained )
She says " Mama...whats poo poo in spanish?" It was hilarious, she was
very sincere but I could not help but crack up. No, I did not look that
one up, I just said "I dont know sweetie!"
The time changes tonight, yipee! I love the light evenings. But
technically it's past my bedtime , so I bid thee farewell and goodnite!

I never realized how much work is involved in selling/buying a home all
at the same time! Our house is officially on the market now and we have
had several showings already. I spend my days "cleaning" and the house
does look spotless, but its no way to live every day! Lord willing we
will sell soon so we can go back to our "normal" existance.
The kids water-colored on the deck today while we had a showing. It was an absolutely beautiful spring day here in Wa!!!
I am still looking into curriculum to gear up for the fall. I am
researching "Math-U-See" and a good phonics program. I think I
will also invest in a Spanish DVD series as well.
I have our little Bailey cat on a new "RAW" diet and some probiotics to
try to help his diarrhea problem. $200 later and the vet "doesn't know
whats wrong". Probably a food sensitivity or IBS (irritable bowel
syndrome). So I am researching on my own and trying to go the more
"natural" route. He is thriving despite it which we are thankful for!
My new schedule is posted but is on "hold" for now, since the whole
selling the house thing came along. I want to get back to it though
when or if we sell.
I also have had NO time to scrapbook, so my pictures continue to pile up
Well its time to get the kids into "Ga-jamas" as Jess says .
Good nite for now!

Things
have been rather exciting here this past week. We found house we love
and are in the process of trying to buy it as well as sell our own. It
is a lovely Victorian home on 6 acres, with a large grassy yard for the
kids, lots and lots of room to play and have animals etc. It has a view
of Mt. Rainier too!
I have spent the last 4 days cleaning non-stop. It is an amazing amount
of work getting a house ready to sell! We still have to clean out the
garage and shampoo some carpets.
Needless to say school has been on hold. The kids have enjoyed seeing
Grandma every day as she has been over helping me. Jess has learned to
count to 20 in spanish. She can count to 100 in english. Ry's drawings
are getting more and more detailed, he has talent!!
I am still praying for God to show us his will in this whole situation.
I will keep you posted. Until then, its back to cleaning and
organizing!!
Blessings!!

Mar. 14, 2006 This and That
As planned I have my schedule completed and I have it hanging on the
bulletin board in the playroom. I am using the next two weeks to "work
out the kinks" in it so it flows. I will try to post a picture of it
soon.
For school today we read a "stack" of books, then had craft time. The
kids practiced with scissors and pasted bits of paper they cut onto
construction paper. Then our son "R" (2 1/2) continued his art-time
with mommy's facial lotion as finger paint on his construction paper.
At least it was creative! We then watched Sesame Street in spanish (per request from my dd "J" (3) who is very interested in learning spanish).
I am in the process of seriously de-cluttering and organizing our home.
The plan is to have it in tip top shape to sell in case we find our
dream land/home. If we dont put the house up for sale well then at
least it will have had a mini-makeover!
Tomorrow "J" goes in for her well-child check, then it's off to WalMart for supplies, then to the farm to pick up our milk.
Oh yes, and we have been in the process of trying to Potty train both
kids. It is slow going, but progress is being made so I am happy with
that.
Well its off to bed for the evening, and I get to look through some new homeschool catalogs that came today! Goodnight!

It is sometimes hard to realize what God's will is for our lives. It can be difficult to separate "our will" for God's will.
We live in a beautiful home that we just finished the way we wanted
it....painted all the rooms, everything is furnished, yard is done etc.
Yet I feel a yearning to live somewhere else. Now is that
dis-contentment brewing or is it Gods prodding?
My dream is to have a home on some land so that we may have a dog for
my son (he adores dogs), a horse for mommy someday (mommy adores
horses) and maybe a cow or chicken or something! I would also like some
flat room for my kids to play, ride bikes etc, and a place for a
garden. We live on the side of a hill, we have a small area that is
flat in the front yard for the kids to run around but no place to ride
bikes, or have any sort of swing set/jungle gym. We live in a
neighborhood that is within walking distance to three public schools
(perfect for a family that plans to send their kids to PS, but we plan
to homeschool).
In my own mind it seems ideal for us to live in the country with
a quieter lifestyle, some personal space, and room to have
hobbies/animals/ gardens etc. But I honestly dont know if that is what
God wants for my family. So I will continue to pray and wait, at
this point I dont know what else to do. I am very aware that the grass
is always greener on the other side...so I wonder if I am suffering
from that ??

Mar. 6, 2006 You're A Mommy to Toddlers if...
Here are some cute sayings, some I heard and some I made up!
1. You cut the sandwiches in shapes (apparently they taste better that way) 2. Going to the dentist or Dr. by yourself is actually "relaxing"
3. You cant remember your own phone number but you know all the
words to "Dora theme song"...".come on vaminos, everbody lets go!" 5. You tell your husband "lets get our jammies on and go nite nite" 6. You can carry a child on one hip, while talking on the phone and mopping your floor with towels on your feet! 7. A thief steals your purse and you yell "Swiper No Swiping! Swiper No Swiping!"
Feel free to add anything else you can think of! |

It's sunday morning and as I reflect on my past week I feel some
dissapointment. I know God wants me to make better use of my time. Time
is a gift, it should not be squandered. I am an expert at getting side
tracked and then I am left with the feeling that I did not accomplish
anything. In some ways it was so much easier when I was
working. I had a schedule of patients to see and I had to keep that no
matter what. At the end of the day I could see on paper the list of 20
or so people I had seen and hopefully helped that day. As a
SAHM it is far too easy to just "go with the flow" throughout the day,
especially with toddlers. I just received what I hope is my life
preserver. It is the book "Managers of Their Homes". I am in the
process of reading it very carefully, then I will put together a
daily schedule to guide me through the day. With this I hope to have
more quality time with the kids, a designated reading time, craft/art
time, meals, exercise, bible study, etc. I know this will require me to get up earlier in the mornings , something I loathe. I will have to rely on God's strength not my own.
Here is a funny little story I just remembered. I have one of those
"nature" alarm clocks ( see? I told you I hated getting up, the beep
beep beep of a regular alarm is enough to throw me over the edge!).
Anyway, it is set to "birds chirping". A few days ago my dd "J" (3 yrs
old) heard the alarm. Today she came in to our room and stood at the
edge of the bed and said "Wake up Mama...Tweet, Tweet, Tweet, Tweet!)
My little alarm clock! It was so cute. It will probably take me another week or so to get this schedule all put together, so I hope to implement it by next Sunday! It's time to get ready for church! Have a blessed sunday!

Feb. 27, 2006 36 Things about me
Feb. 26, 2006 The weekend is over
This is my first attempt at a blog....6 mo ago I didnt even know what a "blog" was! LOL My goal is to write down my thoughts, prayers, and progress (or lack thereof) in my journey of motherhood.
First, a bit about me. I turn 36 years old in a few days, I am a wife
to a wonderful husband that I have been married to for almost 10 years.
We have a very special daughter "J" she is 3 years old. We think she is
"gifted" or at least very, very bright. I guess that is how I came to
the conclusion that we should homeschool. I was researching schools and
programs for gifted children and the cost was unbelievable!! Then God
put it into my heart and mind that I should consider homeschooling.
Well, let me tell you this was not a popular thought in my head as I
was pretty set against it. My reason was that I was homeschooled for a
few years in the early 1980's when it was not popular at all. There was
very little curriculum out there and I remember doing "workbooks"
only....BORING!!! Well it didnt take long to find out that
homeschooling has changed drastically since then! WOW!! I was totally
impressed with the wealth of information out there and the choices I
had! After talking it over with my husband and lots of prayer the
decision was made, we would homeschool our kids for as long as God
wanted us to. We have a wonderful son, "R" who is 2 1/2
years old. Yes, I know "how did I do that"? A daughter and son
only 6 months apart?
Someday I am going to come up with a "short answer" as I get asked that
question alot. "R" an is our special gift from God, he is my
great-nephew that came to us when he was 2 months old (this was totally
unplanned and we had 7 days notice, a story I will tell at another
time). He is now adopted and a great addition to our family that is now
"complete". "R" is very sweet -natured and he loves to draw and is very
good at it. I am trying to encourage his exploration of art by giving
him access to plain paper and markers (his tool of choice) at all
times. He walks around with 5 or 6 markers in his hands most of the day
and his face, hands and shirt are usually covered with color marks.
My dream is to live on several acres and have a horse, dog, cow, etc. I
think it would be a fantastic learning experience for our children and
I love the country! That is in God's hands however. My goals
right now are to become more organized with my time. I want
to have a set routine for cleaning, cooking, and schooltime, as
well as Bible study, exercise and various other projects. More on that
later. Well I think that sums it up in a nutshell. Bye for now. | | • Post A Comment! • Send to a Friend! |
