Thoughts of a Fluttering Mama

Friday, November 10, 2006 - How are we going without TV?
Posted in mother

Well, suprisingly the boys aren't killing each other and they aren't complaining a whole lot either.  It is lot easier to say no to watching television when there is no television to watch.

So far we have had them watching a movie one  morning to keep my lark out my hair while I slept in to catch on sleep from my owl being up very late.  Must admit we put in a dvd last night as I was rather frazzled and needed the baby occupied while I made dinner but I know that we won't be going back to the TV on all day long situation we had before.  This has proven to me that they can do things without television.

Best wishes,
Jen in Oz

Good for you getting rid of the tv's! We have one tv in the living room and my hubby will not get rid of it! However, we watch very little during the day when he is at work. I get educational videos from the library on whatever subject I'm home shcooling on these are watched on 1 or 2 days a week and then they get to watch 1 show a day - usually also educational - in the early evening on PBS. This still seems like a lot to some families but for us it works well. (I have 2 boys - a 6 year old and an almost 4 year old.) And we do not watch tv before school. Keep up the good work. You will not regret it. One thing I do to help is I keep the puzzles, legos, k'nex, and train set in the garage and rotate them to keep the kids interested. This not only keeps them from boredom it also keeps their room cleaner. Hope you have a great month! PJ

I'm totally not ready to be tv-free! Maybe some time in the future :) Good luck!

Happy Thanksgiving,

Sherry
