Here are the rules for the 888 Challenge as posted on the site. It is neat to see how others organize their reading and to glean their choices to add to your own.
7. Miscellaneous (Reading What if Jesus had Never Been Born has inspired me to read some of the wonderful biographies we have on our shelves.)
1 William Carey
2 Amy Carmichael
3 William Wilberforce
4 Charles Finney
5 Hope Within - Book 3 of Heirs of Montana series
6
7
8
8. Karen Kingsbury because the library here is lame and it's all I can find...not that I don't like her I am just frustrated with the library here (how's THAT for a title?)
UPDATES: 20 March: I completed a couple more titles and have finally decided on category headings for my list. What do you think...did I cop out choosing "Mixed Bag" and "Miscellaneous"? Oh.well. I need three more books but since I named that category "Miscellaneous" I can allow for serendipity to rule. (Is that an oxymoron?) As for my Winter Reading Challenge List I read plenty, but not all that I put on this list. It helps that I chose titles from my overall 2008 List. Today begins the Spring Reading Thing 2008 and I will be taking part in that as well just to keep plugging away at my 888 list. So how are you doing?
Feb 28 - Found a few titles on sale so picked them up: My Men Are My Heroes, Lone Survivor, Sugar Camp Quilt, Alaskan Quest series, Heirs of Montana series.
Feb 11 - Momma (and more) was sharing what she found at her library to read and I decided to update my reading list. I am hoping it will take my mind off my stupid side bar error...yes I am kicking myself over this and so frustrated (with myself) that I don't want to attempt redoing it. I am praying instead that the bloggy fairy will come and do it for me. There IS a bloggy fairy isn't there? Great...now I am thinking about my side bar again and not my reading list...SIGH!
Wow, Trish ~ your lists for both the 888 and Winter Reading Challenge look great! I'd love to read your thoughts on the books as you finish them. Keep me updated! :)
Sorry I haven’t officially introduced myself yet (I tend to be a bit of a lurker, haha). I probably should have commented on your blog by now. I’ve enjoyed it so far- and love your new reading list. (I can’t wait to hear what you think of Atonement- I’ve been wanting to pick that one up myself).
Anyway! Thank you for stopping by my page and for commenting on our housing situation. You know, I hadn’t even considered getting our doctors involved until you mentioned it! I don’t know why that had not occurred to me! We’ve met some resistance with the military doctors here on base not wanting to “officially” diagnose asthma on paper, etc… but we have a pediatrician in NY that sees our children frequently when we’re there visiting family, and I’m quite sure they would help us. I wanted to thank you personally for suggesting that. I’m hoping it might be just the push we need to get more action from our management office here.
Nice to meet you and I hope we’ll get to chat again.
Thanks for letting me know about my site feed! I hadn't even thought to turn it on! Sorry about that. I have been neglecting my poor schoolhouse blog (I mainly blog at Homesteadblogger) but I hope to change that soon. :-)
This looks awesome!! I have to recommend www.Librarything.com to you. It is wonderful!! You can catalog all the books that you own and join reading groups with people with the same reading interests as yourself. Best of luck with your challenge!
Your reading list sounds great! I recently signed up for the winter reading challenge - don't know if I'm ready for the 888, but it sounds really good.
Thanks for visiting my blog - I'm glad you liked the prayer I wrote for children who still go to school, the ones who are being bullied really do need God's help!
I love being homeschooled, especially now that we're using Sonlight (I just love to read!!). At the moment, I'm studying American History - something that isn't covered much in the schools over here - and loving it!
Thanks again,
~Deiniol

Wow, you have some great books on your list. I love those little novellas by Francine Rivers. Two of my favorites Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice on your list. Happy Reading.
You're good to go as far as the Winter Reading Challenge is concerned. Thanks for brightening my day! :) If I knew how to get in touch with the bloggy fairy I'd pass the info along, but I have yet to figure out how to find her.......
Hey, I posted winners today on the Patchwork Heart contest on my blog. I know you don't have any boys....but I would love to bless a friend of yours with my haircutting ebook. Just let me know who you would like to give one to! Of course, you are welcome to have it for yourself too :)
I really like how you've organized your reading list. I've been reading like crazy again, but should make a list of what I want to read and what I've all ready read. Another "to-do" list! LOL
I have read a few Karen Kingsbury and I like her, but about half way through, I'm ready for the end and usually skip ahead and just get to it. I don't know if it's because I feel she drags it out or what. The Christian fiction author I really like is Terri Blackstock. The first books of hers I read were the ones she did with Beverly LaHaye (excellent) and now I've bought her mystery Cape Refuge series. I really, really liked her book "Covenant Child". It was excellent! I've read a couple others, too, that I really like.
Didn't I tell you that my Sammy looks like your Kenji Boy? I was so amazed when I saw the pictures of your baby. They could be twins! I can imagine how much you must miss him. I know I would miss my Sammy!! Yes, he is long-legged for a Cocker Spaniel. I've been a bit miffed with him, though, for the past couple of days he's been getting in the kitty litter box. YUCK!! I wasn't sure it was him, but yesterday I heard some noises coming from the litter box and saw my cat lying on the bed and knew it was him. I called him and here he came with cat litter all over his face. DOUBLE YUCK!! I scolded him and he hasn't been in there since, so hope he doesn't do it again. He's never done this before, so don't know why he's doing this now.
Did you see the NCIS marathon on yesterday on USA? I only saw a couple, but would have loved to have just sat and watched the whole day. LOL
I'm praying for you, dear friend!! Take care!
God bless you ~ Julie
