Today's devotion dealt with those frustrating days in homeschooling where you feel like you take one step forward and three backward. These days seem to creep up with more frequency around mid-winter...hmmm...like now? Rather than get all worked up and dive in making changes, I have FINALLY learned to slow down, (hey...I've only been doing this for 16 years you know!) be still and pray. Sometimes there ARE changes I need to make and other times I just need a moment to regroup and press on. I really appreciated this prayer and scripture! Hope you do too! Tell me...how are you doing in your homeschooling? Is burnout approaching? Are you bored? Still loving it? Can't wait to start another day of multiplication tables? SHARE!
"Hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end." (Hebrews 3:6b)
Father,
My faith is weak; please fill me with Your presence and confirm again to me that I am doing Your will in homeschooling our children. Strengthen me to follow You in obedience and help me commit this day to You for Your glory. In the name of Your dear Son, Jesus, Amen.
Things are going well now that my son has figured out that I will just keep adding work if he gives me a hard time. LOL! But we have been having a great time. We get our core work done quickly and then throughout the remainder of the day I can add little learning assignments as time permits.
I really needed to read this today. It's so true, sometimes, we need to just stop and pray. I love that scripture - it really does seem to speak to our homeschooling!!
Boy, the timing for this couldn't have been better. I was obviously led here to see this post. That is a wonderful prayer, I'll be saying it for sure today. Having just spent the weekend making out lesson plans for the rest of the year, I was feeling rather good about the whole homeschooling thing. Then Monday came along (and Tuesday and we'll see about today lol) and I felt like I just didn't want to face four more months of this! I got the reminder in the mail from the school board about yearly evals and then I started to panic...this is ds3's first "official" year...have I done enough with him? I got out my copy of Home Learning Year by Year and started ticking off what we haven't done yet. It hasn't helped that we have had some unusual and glorious weather...warm, sunny and beautiful. No one wants to be inside! Now, armed with your post, I will take a deep breath and calm down. Thanks friend. Julie
