Wednesday, November 5, 2008 - Welcome to my Kitchen

Posted in: Homekeeping

I am so not in the mood for anything serious today and was delighted to find this over at LakeLady's Retreat....

Welcome to My Kitchen

1.  Do you have magnets on your fridge?  Yes but I hide them on the side you can't see.

2. Do you have a calendar in the kitchen and if so, what is it's theme?  I have a dry erase one on the side of the fridge

3.  What is your favorite kitchen gadget or tool?   I love my Bosch mixer...

4.  Are you lucky enough to have a pantry of some kind?  Not really...we have a cupboard to store food.

5.  What is your favorite appliance?  it's wither my crock pot (but I don't use it often enough) or the indoor grill...although we use the coffee maker daily.

6.  Do you have an eat in kitchen?  Yes - as long as you are willing to stand up while eating! *L*

7.  Do you have a bread box?  Nope...

8.  Do you have a picture of your kids on the fridge?  No

9.  Do you ever cooked breakfast in your pjs?   Of course!

10.  Do you have a favorite cookbook?  I use my Hongwangi series regularly

11.  Are you lucky enough to have recipes that were passed down from your mom and grandma?  Yes...they make up the majority of our recipes that we use daily.

12.  What's your favorite food?  It changes depending on my mood...we LOVE food

13.  What's your favorite thing to cook?  I enjoy making old favorite recipes, breakfast foods, and casseroles.

14.  Is your coffee pot electric or stove top?  electric

15.  Do you make your own bread?  By hand or bread maker?  Not regularly anymore...but when we do it's with the bread maker mostly

16.  Name one thing you have hanging on the wall in your kitchen.  Nothing...we live in a historic military home so we can't put holes in the walls and velcro doen't hold anything because the walls are concrete! Sad huh? Oh wait! We did find existing holes up high and hung my antique dishes and platter from Grandma Bea!

17.  Is there a clock in your kitchen?  The stove has one, the coffee pot has one and I have a cross stitched one I made leaning on the counter...again with the can;t hang things on the walls issue.

18.  Do you have a bowl of fruit on your table or counter?  Yes...fresh Maui pineapple in a glass bowl and bananas hanging from a banana stand. Mangoes, persimmons, grapes, and rambutan are nearby too!

19.  What type of canisters do you have?  Antique glass jars from my great uncle's candy shop hold loose tea...otherwise everything is in plastic sealed containers in the cupboard. It's Hawaii...gotta be careful of bugs and dampness!

20.  Does your kitchen have a theme?  Hmmm...sort of...blue and yellow colors and teacups, teapots, etc

21.  What's for supper tonight?  Not sure yet....

22.  Do you have enough cabinet space?  Since we got rid of stuff, kept stuff packed and stored, shoved things into the buffet in the dining room, and put the freezer outside...ABSOLUTELY!

23.  Does your family use paper plates?   Once in a while for large gatherings...

24.  Do you have a good set of china packed up?  Not packed...we use it...otherwise what's the point?

25.  Do you wear an apron to work in the kitchen?  Yes...I have a collection hanging up on 4 different hooks...

26.  Name one thing you would change about your kitchen if you could.  Remodel it! And put it in a home I plan to live in for a LONG time! My dream kitchen has sub-zeros, industrial Wolf stoves, more than one sink...a fry/wok area...it's pretty fabulous! *L*
