Shopping

I have the little known spiritual gift of shopping.  Okay, I realize that it's not mentioned in Scripture, but it's definitely a *gift*, and I do try to be a blessing to others with it.  I have been getting to use it a lot lately, shopping for Christmas presents.  I can't believe that it's getting to be that time of year again, but here we are.  My goal is to not get into December with the majority of our shopping still to do.  I have at least 4 of the major gifts I need, but I need several more.

The children draw each other's names so that they are only having to buy one gift.  But, because 3 of them are too young to have $$ of their own, I end up doing their shopping too.  We always take them to Santa Express - it's a really neat store that benefits the crisis nursery in Spokane.  They have all kinds of things donated by local businesses.  Everything is under $10 or $12 dollars, and they have *elves* that help the children shop and then wrap their presents.  Santa Express has been a part of our Christmas tradition for at least 10 years.  It's fun for the kids, and they can shop for Mom and Dad without us knowing what they are buying.

Ebay is a HUGE time and money saver this year too.  I love being able to sit at my computer and shop a large variety of items, and then wait for stuff to come to my door.  It is so nice to be able to get so much of this done without spending the time, gas, and frustration that actually going to town costs.  And have you fed 9 people at a restaurant lately!?!?  It's not cheap!

However, I love to give gifts, and so I look forward to shopping for the ones I love.

Was just reading your post. I had you on my favs for some time but just now realized that you are on PW also. :) Anyway, you said that your kids pick names for each other; do you have gift from you and your husband to each child also? I am trying to think of different ideas for my kiddies.

Hi, yes, we buy one *big* gift for each of them. Something that they really would like to have. We also buy smaller things for their stockings (though we don't *do* Santa, we still have stockings). We also buy things for the whole family such as books, movies, games, etc.
