Sewing Projects

I've got a plateful today!  There's going to be a "Just Between Friends" sale within an hour of us, so I'm going through clothes, looking for things to consign.  I also have a couple or three or five! sewing projects I want to get done.

I have material that the girls picked out for summer nighties waiting to be made into those nighties, I have a dress that I want to convert to a nursing dress, and yesterday, while I was searching for fabric to use on the dress, I found some really cute knit material that I'm hoping has enough yardage for a nightie for both girls.  I have never sewed on knit before, so I'm a *little* nervous about that!

Keep checking back, I plan on posting the journey from non-nursing to nursing for my dress!  It's a beautiful empire waist tank dress, which I love, but never get to wear because I'm either pregnant or nursing or both.   So, I was faced with the decision to either get rid of it or convert it.  I choose to convert! 

I'm going to add a ruffle around the bottom of the dress as well as to the bottom of the bodice so that it looks like it was originally made that way.  We'll see if it works like I think it will.  The dress is a lovely brown floral rayon, and I really wanted to find a coordinating rayon print, but was unsuccessful ~ 2 thrift stores (looking for a skirt or dress I could just use for yardage), and 3 fabric stores!  I ended up just buying a solid guaze material that I think will look just fine.

Off to my projects!

That sounds neat! I had a friend that taught me to sew on knit fabric and it was alot of fun! it is the rason I bought a serger when I sold my cow! I need to make myself some pajamas or new nighties..I have a nice sewing machine and the serger so the only excuse I have is lack of time. I have a skirt half way done for my grandma also.
