Mud Football

The youth pastor in our area recently held their annual mud football game.  What a fun time!  I have always just sent the men-folk off to play in the mud, but this year, the girls and I went and watched.  I'm not really into "youth" programs, because I don't see where they have a basis in Scripture, and ultimately, I believe them to be more detrimental than beneficial to the youth.  But, this was I think, an exception.  No, there were no great spiritual lessons taught, just a lot of good old-fashioned fun was had by all.  It was a great opportunity for young and old to play and interact together, to eat together and to visit with each other.  Next year, we're hoping they do it when the weather is a bit warmer!

My Beloved in one of his "cleaner" moments!

Jake (our Pastor's son), and Will (who at some point lost his shirt!)

Since Bubba's wearing a "necktie", does this make it a "formal" event?

Mr. Miller, football coach and long-time friend, wisely reffing from the dry dirt!

Mike's brother, Hank, having a good, if muddy time!

A mass of muddy humanity.  This was the Youth vs. the Old Guys.

After mud football and food, then those with appropriate rigs did some mud bogging.  Most of the "Old Guys" were sore and tired, but everyone is looking forward to next year.  Apparently, pain is addictive(which we knew from paintball ).  These are the types of activities we long for ~ where the younger people have the opportunity to be together, but not separated from the rest of the church.  Let's be together, we need each other!
