We are down to the last $4,000 on our vehicle. We should have it down to $2,500 by the end of the week. Yeah!!! That's about $7500 since August that we've paid on it. Once that's paid off, we have one minor credit card payment and then we'll only have hubby's student loan (and that's a minimal payment). So, we'll be pretty much debt free (God willing) by the end of the year. That is such a huge achievement for us that we just can't believe it. This will be the first vehicle we've ever paid off. We have sacrificed ... not even sacrificed...We have made complete and drastic changes in our lifestyle so that we can do the things that we're doing. Like what? Like building a small cabin on my in-laws property (and they have been so gracious to us for letting us do so) so that we can save money, pay off debt, homeschool the kids ... pretty much live like no one else so that we can later "LIVE LIKE NO ONE ELSE" (that's the Dave Ramsey motto). We pay cash for everything. If we don't have the cash, we don't buy it. In fact, our other vehicle needs a little work and we haven't had the money (because we've been so focused on paying off the Tahoe) to have it fixed. So, it sits (for now anyway). What's funny is that we're doing fine living with one vehicle...what does that tell us???? Our next step is to save money for a HUGE down payment on land or be able to buy land out-right (that'll depend on how hubby's real estate goes). Now, y'all know how much I love Texas. It's my homestate and I'm proud of my heritage ... BUT ... we're looking at moving to another state. The price of property in Texas is outrageous. So, we're putting it all in God's hands and seeing where life takes us. We have no strings here (i.e. a house payment or jobs that are only here). I am fortunate to work from home (most of the time) and am able to take my work with me wherever we may go. I'm self-employed, but the company I work for I have been with since 1998...almost 10 years. I do marketing, programming, a little risk management, presentations and fill in where I'm needed. Most of what I do I do from home. Like I said before, we are truly blessed. However, there are times that I do go into the office to help out when needed - or when real estate is slow for hubby I go in as well. I work less than 40 hours a week and my paychecks (believe it or not), cover our bills. It's taken us quite awhile to get where we are and I am so grateful and thankful to God that we are able to do what we do. It's all because of Him that we're able to still homeschool, etc. He's opened doors that we didn't knew even existed (and shut others that should never have been opened). Have y'all ever wondered what you'd do with your life when you grew up? I told hubby the other day that when I grow up, I'd like to be an organic farmer...grow enough for us and for a booth at a Farmer's Market. I think that would be so cool...we have a local farmer's market that I go to and absolutely love the "fresh from the ground" produce, honey ... even beef (even though it doesn't come from the ground). Anyway, I'm rambling at this point ... I just have so much floating around in my mind right now...any ideas for a good state? The kids are wanting to move to Alaska, but that is such a HUGE climate change...we'd go into shock...Anyway, we're thinking Missouri, but not sure. God's blessings to each of you and have a great week!!! |
