Convention Time
Yes, it's that time of year! CONVENTION! Every year we head to Orlando for the Florida State Convention! Last Year there were 14,000 homeschoolers who attended! It's a time to refresh, get inspired, be encouraged and to spend our husbands hard earned money in the vendor hall.
For Homeschoolers, we start to become distracted...., Our children and husbands find us with our noses buried in our convention catalogs. We start to lose interest in the normal day to day conversations as we begin investigating the "117" workshops available to us! We begin to dream, plan, plot.
In addition to the "educational" portion of the weekend. It's also...., GIRL TIME!
You will find 30,40 & 50 year old women sneaking through the hotel hallways at one in the morning, visiting our friends. (sometimes in our nightgowns, but don't worry we grab our robes) We eat out, laugh, cry and even dream together. The one thing we don't do? S.L.E.E.P.
Last year my friend Niki and I sat by the pool at midnight drinking hot cocoa and talking about our goals for our homes. It is a precious forever memory I will carry with me.
This year, I am doing something I've never done before..., I am speaking! My girlfriend Kim and I will be sharing the workshop we've done locally, "Accepting Who I Am As A Homeschooler". We are scheduled at 9am in the Leaders Forum. Right now I feel excitement and Peace, but I know that I will covet your prayers on the day of the event. I'll even do the cheesy, newbie thing and buy my family the professional CD's of our talk.
