The Lord is so gracious. He always puts the most incredible people in our lives! Thank You so much Lori and Kyle (Lori’s most amazing son) for blessing us with a new (to us) computer! You will never know how grateful we are. You have been such a blessing to our family. The boys have been knocking school out of the ballpark in half the time since adding the second PC.
As I was looking at the picture of Seth and Jacob working on their Time4learning (above) I began to think about our educational plans for summer. In the past I have homeschooled during the summer so we could take August and December off. As a homeschool support group leader August is our busiest month. We have always taken December off because here in Florida the weather is beautiful and my husband often has vacation time.
However, after a busy, busy year, the thought of doing hands on projects or spending our time reading aloud from history books feels overwhelming this summer. I want to take time off and catch up on organizing my kitchen cabinets, go the pool, get together with other families for fun days.
With that said, I have decided this year that we are just going to Summer School. It's the best of both worlds. The boys will stay on top of their basic core subjects (Math and Language Arts) using Time4Learning and I can relax and be available, but no big lesson plans to worry about. I don't have to work hard, just smart! I let the computer do the teaching. (Big Smile)
I know lots of Mama’s who choose to do this every year because when you take a large chunk of time off you pay the price when you start back up again. There is lots of catching up to do.
Which brings me back to the purpose of this post. Thank YOU so much Lori and Kyle for blessing our family. The boys can stay on top of school in half the time so we can enjoy our summer.
I look forward to simply spending our mornings working on Math and Language Arts using our beloved On-Line Time4Learning curriculum.
Mary - can I ask - does Time4Learning have a 'learn to read' program? I am really struggling with teaching my Katie (who you know also has learning difficulties,) how to read. I am wondering if T4L would be a good fit for her. (?)

I would love to chat with you about it.
Thanks!

i found your blog on a coupon website comment! ha! Anyway, we homeschool in TN and i wanted to say "hello" and tell you that we don't take the whole summer off either. We do a few unit studies that are seasonally applicable (this summer we will study the Beatitudes and Bees and Honey! If we still have summertime left over after that, we'll see what God has planned for us!
See you around the block!
Blessings,
Angie, mom of 3 in Tennessee
