Quiet Time

I tried something new today for quiet time with the 2 and 4 yo.  4 yo almost never sleeps.  2T sometimes sleeps.  Baby always sleeps sometime in the afternoon and if the boys are upstairs for "quiet time" they usually wake baby up.  Nice "quiet time," huh?  I really need just 30 mins of peace and it's not happening because I have to keep running upstairs to discipline the boys for getting off their beds, etc.

Today I gave them each a blanket and told them to get some books or a toy that they could play with quietly.  They had to stay on their blanket and be quiet for 25 minutes.  I set the timer.  I was right there...I could see them both.  They were in separate rooms but really just a few feet from each other.  It went great!!!  I want to gradually increase the time.  An hour would be grand!  We'll see how it goes.  I really want to this to be a daily habit for us to be quiet and apart from each other.  I think it will be essential for homeschooling.

I love this! I am going to try it. I always make the goal it get up early, but reality is, I don't more often than I do. I think that your option will teach the boys to learn self discipline and how to have quiet time for themselves.

Hi, I just wanted to tell you that you should save your blogs to a binder for you and your children to enjoy a few years down the road- I print mine off and place them in page protectors and put them in a binder. It has made me appreicate each little thing they say and do. I LOVE mine, its a treasure. Blessings, Dee
