Feb. 10, 2006 - NO TV!!!
I am so proud of us.
We have gone no TV.
You see, we were addicted. TV can be a great tool for education, but for us, well, it was burning brain cells.
And now it is gone.
Really truly. We have not watched television since Sunday.
But we still have the computer, obviously, to watch movies. And check email. And read blogs.
I will miss the Office, My Name is Earl, ER (dispite my distain for the medical community, of which I used to be a part,) and Arrested Development.
But I will survive.

| Congratulations! It just gets easier and easier. We hav been tv free, officially, since Dec. 2001. My DH nearly had heart problems watching all the post 9/11 commentaries by poltical pundits. I had been off tv for a year until then, but we decided it really wasn't good for his helth. He'd yell at the tv!! So, 4+ years later, we just watch movies that we screen. Again, congratulations!! |

| We still have the TV for videos but we haven't been connected to antenna or cable for years. We don't feel like we are missing anything. |

When we moved to Idaho last year, we did not get cable which essentially meant...no tv. We couldn't get anything, even with those rabbit ears. It was wonderful. We still watched movies on the tv. My kids turned to the computer and IM'd their friends back home...a lot. I guess you could say it was a year of cleansing. I was tired of monitoring screens (tv screen, computer screen, handheld game screen) and this helped.
This year I told them we would get cable to watch sports, only if they could monitor themselves. So far (since August), they have done pretty well. The only thing they really watch are football games, basketball games, baseball games, tennis games. And, they have monitored themselves pretty well. All dh or I have to say is "let's not spend all day in front of the tv" and they turn it off shortly.
When they aren't watching sports, they are playing inside basketball (at least until the weather warms up).
