old friends but forever friends!!
|
Yesterday, I got two of my children that I used to homeschool out of school so that we could go to the Thanksgiving feast at Kate's house. Since we don't homeschool or go to the same church anymore, we don't have the opportunity to see those friends very often at all. My family and myself miss those friends very much!!! We took the opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving with them yesterday and it was wonderful. And, Julie even came in from Texas to be with us all as well. It was just like ol' times. When we are all together, it's like none of us have never missed a beat. Everyone loves each other unconditionally... no matter what. There were a few faces missing for one reason or another, but it was so good to see the ones that were there. One person asked me if I missed homeschooling and I quickly answered NO!! And I don't miss the schooling part because I know that that's not what the Lord has for our family, however, I do miss the fellowship of these friends!!! They were a huge part of our lives for a very, very long time, and sometimes it makes me sad to think about the changes. Then, I have to remember, that the Lord has me here now, in a new church, with new fellowship and these old friends are still very much my friends, I just don't get the opportunity to spend wery much time with them and I need to cherish every moment that I do get to spend with them. The Lord knows better than me....right??!!!
So, here I am pondering on the great time I had yesterday with my old friends!!! I love you guys!!!!! I hope we can join you again soon!!

It did seem right having everyone together, didn't it?! Maybe the Lord has us all spread out so that we can bring that same kind of friendship to new groups of people! We love you JJ!

I was so happy to see you. You are something else. Texas gives us lots of opportunities to think of you though - first there's the horses, then there's the cowgirls (Travis has a cousin that is one!), then there's the twang! You are ALWAYS in our thoughts!
We are in a similar season of life - although different circumstances brought us both where we are - but I know what you mean. There were some people that I saw that I felt a slight disconnect with - and others that I could see once a year and pick up right where we left off. You're right - the feast was one of those times when I felt like I was in my skin again for a while. Although Kate did have to do that MEAN thing to me by playing that slideshow! I was glad you were standing by me - you've always been a great friend to cry with!
Come see us in Texas sometime!
