Is my Daughter a U.S. citizen??

Let me explain. This week at school, the kids had to take a citizenship test to see if they would qualify to be U.S. citizens by passing this test of their Knowledge. Here are some of the questions....Who wrote the Declaration of Independence? Her answer: Ronald Reagan :(! Next Question...Who are two supreme judges? Answer: Judge Judy and Judge Joe Brown...:0(!!! Still yet another question...Who is the Chief Justice? Are you ready for this one??? Her answer...Pocahontas's Father!!! OMG!!! Here's another good one: Who are the two representatives? Patricia Noland (she's her grandmother, my mom) and whoever else.  Oh, and here's one.... What do the 13 stripes on the flag represent? She says.... 13 countries or counties or something like that!!

There were lots more interesting questions with even more interesting answers.Well, I guess that means that she needs to start studying a little more about our history. When we homeschooled, I promise, we went over ALL or most of this. We even took a field trip to D.C. and went to the History museum. I guess it just hasn't sunk in yet, obviously. At first, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, but then, I laughed cause she has such a wit about her, that you can't not laugh. Then, later I asked what they were studying in Social Studies, and we came to the conclusion that it is just that.... Social studies.

I'm just glad that she was born a U.S. citizen and doesn't have to take the test to become one... in the meantime, maybe she should freshen up on her history a bit!!

Oh, and by the way, she REALLY is a smart girl, she has just forgotten a few things:0)!!

And I can see the face, sort wrinkled but sure about the answers. It does show a little how the things we get for free are what we notice the least...or something. I'm not sure that some of my tenth graders might not have done much better. And anyway, who WAS Pocahontas's father?

Very funny. I can relate too. Ricky can run circles around the entire family when it comes to history! I guess he is the only one worthy of being a citizen :)
Of course Kayla should study, because I can use old age and senility as my excuse, but she is only 12, so unless she can come up with something good she had better hit those books!
