Apr. 17, 2008 - my other blog
Mar. 24, 2008 - Rd-blooded Americans!
I got this from Lillian, you should really read this! It is for everyone who knows some-one who is in the Marines or Airforce or Navy or the Army; Please Read:
"Last week I was in Atlanta , Georgia attending a conference. While I was in the airport, returning home, I heard several people behind me beginning to clap and cheer. I immediately turned around and witnessed one of the greatest acts of patriotism I have ever seen.
Moving thru the terminal was a group of soldiers in their camos. As they began heading to their gate, everyone (well almost everyone)was abruptly to their feet with their hands waving and cheering.
When I saw the soldiers, probably 30-40 of them, being applauded and cheered for, it hit me. I'm not alone. I'm not the only red-blooded American who still loves this country and supports our troops and their families.
Of course I immediately stopped and began clapping for these young unsung heroes who are putting their lives on the line everyday for us so we can go to school, work and home without fear or reprisal.
Just when I thought I could not be more proud of my country or of our service men and women, a young girl, not more than 6 or 7 years old ran up to one of the male soldiers. He kneeled down and said "hi."
The little girl then asked him if he would give something to her daddy for her.
The young soldier, who didn't look any older than maybe 22 himself, said he would try and what did she want to give to her daddy. Then suddenly the little girl grabbed the neck of this soldier, gave him the
biggest hug she could muster and then kissed him on the cheek.
The mother of the little girl, who said her daughter's name was Courtney, told the young soldier that her husband was a Marine and had been in Iraq for 11 months now. As the mom was explaining how much her daughter Courtney missed her father, the young soldier began to tear up.
When this temporarily single mom was done explaining her situation, all of the soldiers huddled together for a brief second. Then one of the other servicemen pulled out a military-looking walkie-talkie. They started playing with the device and talking back and forth on it.
After about 10-15 seconds of this, the young soldier walked back over to Courtney, bent down and said this to her, "I spoke to your daddy and he told me to give this to you." He then hugged this little girl that he had just met and gave her a kiss on the cheek. He finished by saying "your daddy told me to tell you that he loves you more than anything and he is coming home very soon."
The mom at this point was crying almost uncontrollably and as the young soldier stood to his feet, he saluted Courtney and her mom. I was standing no more than 6 feet away from this entire event.
As the soldiers began to leave, heading towards their gate, people resumed their applause. As I stood there applauding and looked around, there were very few dry eyes, including my own. That young soldier in one last act of selflessness, turned around and blew a kiss to Courtney with a tear rolling down his cheek.
We need to remember everyday all of our soldiers and their families and thank God for them and their sacrifices. At the end of the day, it's good to be an American.
RED FRIDAYS ----- Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing Red every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be called the "silent majority". We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for God, country and home in record breaking numbers.
We are not organized, boisterous or over-bearing.. We get no liberal media coverage on TV, to reflect our message or our opinions. Many Americans, like you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize
that the vast majority of America supports our troops.
Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday -and continues each and every Friday until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that.. Every red-blooded American who supports our men and women afar will wear something red.
By word of mouth, press, TV -- let's make the United States on every Friday a sea of red much like a homecoming football game in the bleachers.
If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances, co-workers, friends, and family. It will not be long before the USA is covered in RED and it will let our troops know the
once "silent" majority is on their side more than ever; certainly more than the media lets on.
The first thing a soldier says when asked "What can we do to make things better for you?" is...We need your support and your prayers.
Let's get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example; and wear something red every Friday."
sorry about the color I can't get it to change! |

Feb. 12, 2008 - up-date on my life
Hello!
How are you all today?
My quiz team won 1 out of 3 quizzes on Sunday!
Here is how it went: Quiz 1; we lose by around 100 points.
But that’s fine, ‘cause we only had 3 people on our team!!!!
And the other team had 5 people.
Quiz 2; we win 60-150. I quizzed out on question 8!
We were all really surprised because again it was 3-5
And the team we were against has done very well in the past.
Quiz 3; we lost 100-110! I quizzed out on question 11.
We were tied on question 19 and the opposing team won
Because they jumped on the last question before we could.
All in all we tried our best and didn’t slack in any area!
I think we did a great job, as did the teams we quizzed against!
Well that’s just an up-date on quizzing.
Not much else is going on around here, except that we’re getting
Ready for Valentine’s Day like everyone else. That should be a lot
Of fun!
Thanks for taking time to read this!
Which reminds me I need to work on that tag! |

Feb. 5, 2008 - time for fun!
Alrighty it's time for a fun up-date on my rather small social life!
My social life is basically this; Quizzing, Home-school group, and sort of youth group.
As for Quizzing we are currently working on Philippians 2-4 for our next quiz, and our special quiz last month went great! I loved being on the Upper Division team for a little while, and I actually got to answer one question!!! Of course it was because my pad accidentally went off so I didn't have a clue what the answer was so I took my best shot at it and the answer wasn’t near what I said so it was counted incorrect, but my team still took 3rd place!! And our N.D. got 1st place!! We were sooooo thrilled!
And today my home-school group met for the first time since December! We had lots of fun; our science class was on Volcanoes, that went very well! And our Art class was on Sweden, so we made cookie stamps, which are traditionally given by the Groom to his Fiancée, so Mrs. D. told all the guys after class to not give away their stamps to any girls right now or their moms may not be very happy. Of course everyone laughed when she said that!!!! For Explorations classes we played Charades! Wow was that fun some of the things we acted out were; a Football coach yelling @ a player (that one was really good!), and space shuttle take-off, and working @ D.Q. . Some that my friend and I had to act out were; Whitewater rafting, planting a garden, and my favorite (or not) Birds building a nest!
so far that's all for now! Thanks for taking the time to read this!!! See you soon! |

Jan. 9, 2008 - Individuals, Not a team
hey Ya'll!
I was just wondering if you all would pray for my quiz team; you see we're going to have our regular January Quiz and so far we have only held one quiz practice because all of the holidays came too close to the quiz practices. so we have had to learn all 3 chapters by ourselves with out being able to help each other. so how we do will rely on how well we have practiced as individuals, not on how we practiced as a team. = ( . So please pray that we will do our best even though we haven't been able to work as a team.
the weekend after our Quiz we have a special invitational, a certain church invites other quizzing teams to come and quiz on all the chapters memorized up to this point ( Philippians chapter 1) and they have a special division that is reserved for first-year quizzers, this is called the novice division. I am in my second year and everyone else on my team is in their first year so that leaves me as the only one in the lower division team. as you probably already know you can't have a team of 1 ( in fact the rules state that your team must have 3-8 people if you have over 8 people you form 2 teams), but whoever thought up the rules had a plan for this sort of problem, if there is not enough people to form a L.D. team the remaining L.D. person can move up to the Upper Division! so that means I will get to quiz with all the REALLY good quizzers that will graduate before I permanently move up!!!!!!!! Isn't that AWESOME!!!!! of course it will be harder than what I am used to, but It will be great to have a chance to quiz with some of these people, and it also means that I will get to hang out with my friends from last year that moved up! and the only down side to this is that I will be against Isaiah who is sooooo good that Maple Grove feared him!!! well that was last year before they all moved up.
so please pray that we will do our bests no matter how little we have practiced. please also pray for our coaches, pray that they will be given the wisdom to instruct us and perform their jobs to the best quality.thanks for taking the time to read this.

Jan. 2, 2008 - Welcome/Bible Quizzing
Welcome to my Blog!
This is where I will be posting my adventures, please make yourself at home and feel free to leave a comment!
I am currrently in the Lower division bible quiz team from my church. The Lower Division is for grades 7-9 and the Upper Division is for grades 10-12. We memorize about 1 chapter of the Bible a week. This year we are memorizing Galatians, Ephesians,Philipians, Colosians and Philemon. Last year we memorized the entire book of Acts. Bible Quizzing startes in September and ends in May, once every month we travel to a church that supports our program and compete against other teams from the surrounding area. In May we will have the district tournament which decides who will go to the nationals to represent our district. Right at the moment we are memorizing Ephisians chapters 5-6, and Philipians chapter 1. Memorizing takes lots of time and commitment, we're memorizing (on average) 26-38 verses verses a week, that adds up to about 104-152 verses a month. but it's not all hard work, after every quiz we get together to have a potluck with our families, & during practices we'll often burst into fits of laughter over something someone said, or the funny accent the person used to read the verse, or someone's facial exprestion when they said something. being on the quiz team is like haveing a second family, I have a few "big brothers" who always tease me and a few "big sisters" who are always ready to listen to my problems, and now that I'm in my second year I also have a couple of "little sisters" who never cease to make me smile! I'm sooo thankfull that I was able to join the quiz team, it has deffinately given me the motivation to memorize and the opertunity to meet other kids who have a desire to please the Lord!
