Okay, so maybe it's not REALLY my enemy, but there are sure days I feel like it! Sometimes I feel like it is all I do, wash-dry-fold-put up. Round and round I go. Some much to the point that I skip the last 2 steps and we end up with wrinkly clothes that have to get thrown into the dryer with a damp rag or ironed before we can even wear them.
I've never schedule my laundry through the day. A little hard to do that since you never really know how long it will take to wash and dry each load. So I do through out the day here and there and throw it in a basket when it is all dried, assuming I will fold it in a little while. Well lately a little while has turned into days, and on occasion a week or more. These are not very good homemakeing skills. So I've been thinking about how to make my laundering more efficient. Still I don't plan to schedule my laundry in our schedule, but keep a timer set (no buzzers on the machines don't help me much either). When the timer goes off, check the laundry, switch if ready. Instead of throwing stuff in baskets to fold later we have a very nice sturdy clothing bar hanging in our laundry room that I am going to put to use! Everyday we will bring our unused hangers out there so that when our laundry is done I can hang the ones that need to be hung as I take them out of the dryer, less wrinkles this way so one less step of ironing or drying over again with a damp cloth! Then the things that need to be folded will be put in the basket and taken with me to whatever it is that I am doing. If I'm working with the kids with school work then I will take it and fold it while I help then and etc. Then in our pm chores we will put away the folded laundry in it's proper place!
You know the phrase; "Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer"? Well I'm applying this to my laundry and will be keeping it closer to me, so that it gets done correctly and everyday! |
