Car wreck and a crazy Friday night...

Well I'm pasting this from my facebook so bear with it. This happened to me on Friday the 22nd and the part missing is that it has been evaluated now and is around $5000+ for repairs. In other words it's totaled and I'm looking for an new used car. Also the part about my dad and me waiting for 3 and a half hours for a tow truck has been left out because I forgot in the original. enjoy reading the story :)

Ok just as a FYI around 4:56pm today I was heading to work. Nothing abnormal there right? WRONG! I (being super smart and cautious (yeah right) )tried to zip by on my merry way to work. Little did I know that my van (yes insert silent chuckles here) has almost no traction whatsoever. That being said I found out that God must be trying to get something into my thick skull because I took a corner at the top of a hill and kept on sliding. My dad (having found me laying on the side of the car looking freaked out) said it looked like I slid a couple hundred (yes thats "100+") feet and gone at least 25 feet straight back. Talk about a sliding record for minivans! Thankfully my personal self was alright (except mentally shaken even now), but the car is another story. When I slid I hit a metal barrier (like those dividing highways) and while it stopped my car (thank God) I was thrown around a bit (no airbag collision though) and the car was pretty banged up. I have dents in both passenger side doors and my front bumper (whats left of that slag heap lol) is crunched like an eggshell. My dad thinks its pretty much going to get evaluated and scraped (well I get back some money then it gets scraped). The possibility of a fixed van is slim (and even so insurance now goes up woohoo! :/), so I'm pretty much car-less and relying on parents for transportation. At least on the up and up (if you see one I still don't) I get to go actual CAR shopping soon.

Just goes to show you if your not doing something God's way he'll show you who's boss ;) I know I'm kneeling in prayer more then ever now and I hope you guys will keep me in your thoughts as well.

Thanks to the Lord that you're alright! Reminds me of a few years ago when my dad got in a wreck and it totaled his car. The paramedics said it was a miracle he lived through it! As it was, the only injuries he had were a couple hematomas (sp?) on his knees, and a few little scrapes and bruises!

Hopefully you can get a new car soon.

I'm mostly ok, so thanks :D I've been experiencing some numbness and loss of control in my left arm, but haven't really shared that with mom and dad :( I'm hoping it goes away quickly though (at least I'm a righty :) )I didn't really notice it till I was at work holding some food in my left hand to pour and I dropped the container without feeling the reaction. I felt kind of dumb standing there watching it fall and not having my hand muscles react at all. Like I said I hope it's not a side effect of getting wrecked and hopefully it will easy off or go away.

haha! luke, come on. you've gotta tell *someone*! (no, us and/or other friends don't count) or else next time it won't be the container that falls to the floor. your whole left arm is going to fall off!!!! and that would just be disturbing.

Must be the season for wrecks. We had a blizzard warning today and they shut down the campus downtown.

Glad the Keelers are all safe though!

Guess what? My parents are taking me to visit Cedarville University sometime soon. It's close to Dayton, I believe. But I swore long ago that I'd never go there because there's a big stupid lake right in the middle of the campus that I'd always be having to run around to get to class!

Seeing I am so violently opposed to it, I think it would be just like the Lord to take me there. :P

That college is actually not that far from us. We have I think around 6 students from there car pool to our church every Sunday. (assuming its the same college) Our good friend who stayed with us on Sundays (Rachel) came from there, so it can't be that far.

Yeah, I remember last year we had a speech tournament there (which is how I developed my hatred for the lake, lol) and I wished I could have gotten together with you, but speech tournaments are always too busy.

Ideally they would get married in a year, after graduation, but we all know they won't be able to wait that long, lol. ;)

That's great that you're done with school, Luke! Are you gonna throw a big party for yourself? :P

I had a dream last night, and you were in it, Luke. But for some extremely odd reason your hair was blond. O_o But it had gone back to it's normal color by the end of the dream.

The SOAP foundation (Society of Aspiring Poets) has worked together to produce this [modified] poem...

Somewhere over the rainbow,
There's an ecstatic leprechaun.
Blue birds fly,
My Oh My,
So should I.
If the fur flies,
The furry little bugs,
Will certainly be bald,
Until they aren't furry anymore.

No, not exactly. Let's just say that Sue Denim happens to reside at our house. ;)

Oh yes, and each line of that poem was written at different times by various people on on of the message boards on our bedroom door. (in different colored dry-erase markers too) We told you we were a strange family. :P

Seeing as it's my job to correct mistyped comments here, I feel like i should say something about this line in the above comment: "...by various people on on of the message boards on our bedroom door." Only I have no idea what in the world the poor lass was trying to say.
