Hi everyone!
I am Leslie. I am a SAHM to 6 kids, 1 daughter, Jessica who is 17 and 5 boys, Stephen-16, Jeremy-14, Sean-9, Jaret-7 and Seamus-3 months old. I just pulled Sean and Jaret out of school so I can homeschool but just for the rest of this year we are going to use an online charter school and I will look at different curriculums to see if I want to homeschool them myself. I homeschooled Jessica, Jeremy and Sean a few years back for 2 1/2 years until my husband of nearly 20 years and I split up and I had to go to work, which was a challenge in itself since I hadn't worked in 15 years! My ex is mentally ill, abusive, an alcoholic and in the last couple of years he added drug user to his resume. I tried to be a good, faithful wife and stand by his side and help him but staying just hurt the children and I so after so many years of this I decided the kids and I deserved better and ended the marriage back in 2002. It's been a rough road, trying to support all these kids on one salary, I didn't get any child support because he decided if he couldn't have me then we wouldn't have anything and he stopped working so I couldn't collect child support from him. Nice, huh? But, somehow we made it and 2 years ago I ended up meeting the man of my dreams. We married and had our baby Seamus in October. Life is wonderful now---well, it's getting there, anyway. It'll take time for the kids to heal from everything but we're working on it. I am going to start with homeschooling Sean and Jaret and getting them out of the horrible public school system. They are excited, as am I---it's good to be a SAHM again, I never realized how much I loved it until I was forced to work outside of the home and rarely see my children. I am so blessed to be able to do it again!
A litte about me---I love to cook, it's my passion. I've been a cook at various restaurants and I've always loved cooking since I was young. I am currently doing a lot of Italian food and I am baking tons of bread. My future goals are to learn to can and preserve things and make bread so tasty that my kids will never want store bought white bread again!
I love to sew. I love to quilt. I am currently trying to finish up 5 quilts (wall hangings) I had made for family and friends for Christmas. Luckily, they understand that it's hard for me to get to them with a new baby---but my goal is to have them all done before March!
I am an avid reader, I love tinkering with and fixing and building computers, I like gardening and I am going to try to have a small herb garden this year if the kids and the animals don't trample it like last year. Scott and I are looking to move out to the country, he wants to build us a log cabin on a few acres of land. That's part of our 5 year plan. Right now, I hope to successfully finish this year out homeschooling!
That's me!! I am looking forward to meeting many of you and exchanging HS ideas and advice! |
