My Co-op Meeting
Well, today was a long but fun day. I had to be at a meeting for our co-op this morning at 9am, which meant I had to take the kids to my friends' house to stay by 8:30, which meant I had to leave the house at 8 am! This was quite a feat and I am proud to say that we made it with time to spare!
I will admit that I was dreading this meeting, and have been dreading this co-op a bit this summer as it loomed closer to starting. I knew no one in this co-op when they contacted me about teaching writing, and prayed long and hard about taking the offer. The co-op is very well organized and everyone I talked to that knew of it or had been involved with it only had good things to say. So on that level, I was fine. But on another level, I was very sad that to do this co-op meant I could not do CBS, the Bible study I have attended for five years. I sat out last year with the baby being born, and wanted to go back this year. Agreeing to do this on the same day would make that impossible. Slowly, God revealed to me that this was all part of His plan to give me a viable option for bringing our oldest son home from public school. So, we are moving ahead with the co-op plans, but at times I have been emotionally dragging my feet.
Well, today really helped all that. This co-op is so well run. I felt honored to be a part of it! The ladies are so committed-- both to homeschooling as well as their teaching jobs within the co-op. They love their kids and they love the Lord. As I listened to their closing prayer, I was touched by their obvious desire to line their efforts up with His will. I left there fired up about getting my year planned and ready!
My "assistant" teacher and friend, Cindy and I decided to go and have lunch at her home and talk further about the class. She treated us to an outstanding lunch. My daughter was so impressed she commented on the way home, "Mom, did you see what a gourmet lunch Miss Cindy put out for us? It was nice!" Thank you my friend for spoiling us! What a blessing-- and what a blessing it was to get time to visit and catch up with my friend. We don't do that often enough! And, no, we did not stick to our plans of talking about the class. Though we talked a bit about it, we mostly just gabbed-- about our upcoming year's schooling plans, our lives, our friends, our hearts. I love sweet times with sweet friends like this.
Well, I am off to scrape together something for dinner. We were going to have stir fry, but I am too wiped to pull it together now! Tomorrow night, I am having one of my faithful blog readers and her family over for dinner if you can believe that. She and I went to junior high together and reconnected recently. Since then she has become one of my most faithful readers, and is always quick to point out when I have not posted for awhile or to ask me for details I did not supply-- or just to tease me about my abundance of fruit recipes! Ü I am looking forward to seeing her after all these years and to meeting her family. So, that is what is up at our house... I am off to get stuff done after being gone allll day!
