How To Make Homemade Soup
I have spent some time this evening just surfing blogs... a favorite pasttime of mine when I am bored! What did I do before blogs were invented? I shudder to think of all the stuff I used to get done!
Anyway, I found this post on a very interesting blog and enjoyed how she broke down making soup. I always follow recipes to a tee, so this was a unique way to think of doing most any soup based on what you have on hand. I can guarantee if you use her method, no two pots of soup will ever turn out the same!
Just for good measure, I will post one of my favorite soup recipes here:
Italian Chicken Stew
1 medium onion, chopped
1 Tbsp. oil
28 oz can whole tomatoes
2 potatoes, peeled and diced
1 tsp. dried basil
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1/2 tsp. dried oregano
1/4 tsp. black pepper
10 oz. pkg frozen mixed vegetables
1 cup chicken, cooked and chopped
Saute onion in oil until tender. Stir in tomatoes with liquid, potatoes and seasonings. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer covered for 10 minutes. Add vegetables and chicken; simmer, covered, for 25 minutes.

Your soup recipe sounds yummy. I'm afraid I've overdone the soup offerings lately for my family. Having some major dental work in the last month has left me thinking soft and easy, where they are thinking hard and crunchy.
This might be a good recipe to use with leftover turkey from that big day coming up.
I enjoyed reading your blog and love your ladybug theme. Glad you've found a church home where you can be challenged and changed. Those are good goals.
I've been to M. N.C. and have good friends who live there. It's a beautiful town.
Thanks for commenting on my blog about my retreat. I'm glad I went, and yes, I was challenged and changed.

Marybeth, how fun it is to be able to read your blog! I was looking at the list of blogs you read and saw Elizabeth Foss' name. She has been an inspiration to me, and I look forward to reading her blog, too. I'll keep poking in from time to time and seeing how you're doing. Hope this day is a good one for you.
Love,
Jeannie
