About My Friends
I got an email not long ago from a woman who was unhappy with me. She did not like that I had removed her from my friends list and wanted to know why. She wondered if she had done something personally to me to warrant this decision. Now, I hardly know this person. So, there was no way that she could have done anything to me. It turns out that she and I just had very different ideas about the friends list in general.
To me, the friends list displays the blogs that I visit regularly. These are people that I keep up with via their blogs for various reasons-- they make me laugh or make me think or inspire me in one aspect or another. So, I list them as people that I can vouch for as truly being "friends." If someone is listed, that means I visit their blog regularly. I can't visit that many blogs on a regular basis, so I don't have a real long list. That is how I see the friends list. Recently, I went through and cleaned house. If you were on there and are no longer on there, it probably means that you were no longer posting regularly. I don't like sending people to inactive blogs, as that can be quite disappointing! If you get back in the habit of posting regularly, please let me know so I can add you back! (And don't feel bad-- I deleted my own husband's blog-- it's nothing personal!)
I take my friends list very seriously. But I don't want to hurt people's feelings. Personally, I don't like going to blogs where they have like 100 friends listed, as I know they can't possibly be visiting all these blogs regularly. So, that's how I approach the whole friends idea. I know this goes totally against what most folks do, but then again, that pretty much sums up my life!
