When Life Gives You Black Bananas...

Make banana cake!  Ü

Well, that is what I just did actually.  We seem to always have a few bananas that don't get eaten every time I buy them.  Instead of tossing the old bananas, I peel them and place them in a ziploc freezer bag.  This is a nice way to save bananas that would otherwise end up in the trash.  Once you freeze them, though, about the only thing they are good for is banana bread-- or banana cake!  Today I had some that either needed to be frozen or used, so I opted to make banana cake since I actually had some buttermilk on hand from another recipe.  The recipe I used calls for a cream cheese frosting, but I am going to just make a buttercream vanilla frosting.  This will be a nice dessert treat for my family tonight after their gourmet dinner of frozen pizza!  I am going out for dinner and a movie with a friend, so I am leaving them on their own for dinner.  I was going to have them order out, but we have some frozen pizzas leftover from the Superbowl party the other night.  So, to make up for making them eat that for dinner, I fixed a special dessert.

Hey, I gotta redeem myself somehow!

I do the same thing with bananas...so you need to share the recipe! LOL Seriously, it sounds delicious!
Also, thanks for your sweet words and birthday wishes for John. As a mother of six yourself, you know that #4, #5, and #6 are just as special and wonderful as #1, #2, and #3! I don't know what we'd do without Mr. John-John...and sometimes we don't know what to do with him either! LOL And I know I'm a wee bit prejudiced, but I think he's pretty cute myself! Thanks so much! :o)
Hope you had a great time with your friend. Chad and I are going out tomorrow night to celebrate our anniversary, since we were at church Sunday night...and we'll only have the baby in tow.
What date in August is your anniversary? I think I remember you mentioning it on your blog last year. My birthday is the 22nd.
Have a great week!

I love banana cake. My daughter dislikes bananas a great deal, but even she cannot resist banana bread or banana cake. Think I need to buy some extra bananas this week.....:)

Blessings,

Feb. 7, 2007 - Another Banana Recipe

Posted by Anonymous

Hi Marybeth~
I just posted a Banana Muffin recipe on my blog yesterday! I'll be baking them again soon, as I have some black ones, too. I wonder if the kids stop eating the bananas on purpose so I'll bake something with them?
