Marybeth's Musings on
Motherhood and More
|
Just a quick update on the conference-- it was great! I was ministered to more than I ministered... I didn't realize how much my soul was in need of a fresh infusion of Truth. I came home fired up about family and homeschooling. I brought my husband a few cd's of messages that I thought would speak to him in turn, as he didn't get to come with me. This is always such a time of recommitment and renewal in our marriage, it was sad not to have him there. Instead he stayed home and watched kids as well as got our house ready to sell-- what a guy!
Thanks to all of the ladies who stopped me to say they read this blog, or my articles, or have heard me speak before. That is always nice to hear-- to know that what I sit in the house and do is actually going beyond these walls and being used. Only God could do that. When I spoke on Friday I was a little bummed, as that was the message I was most excited to give and felt the most confident about. I only had a small audience though. This was disconcerting. It sucked the wind out of my sails. Of course, Satan saw an opening and jumped right in-- no one wants to hear you, he said. I recognized his evil hiss and did my best to shoo him away. Yet, all day it kept nagging at me-- I still had a brand new message on Saturday to give... the one I felt least confident about. What if no one came? What if it went terrible?
The good news is, it went great! I had a good crowd and got good feedback as to how God used it in the lives of those who attended. And the fact that it was a new message and I had to rely on my notes more heavily than usual didn't seem to bother anyone. I was SO relieved after I was done-- I was free to laugh a bit more and worry a bit less. All in all, I came home excited and rejuvenated. And exhausted. Such a paradox, but part of a life of ministry, I am finding.
