Marybeth's Musings on
Motherhood and More

Warp Speed

We are getting ready to head into warp speed around here as tomorrow I go into She Speaks-- and will not emerge until Sunday late afternoon sometime!

I would be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to it.  I am especially looking forward to paying someone else (aka the babysitter) to hear the words "I'm bored," 452 times a day!

Tomorrow the speaker team meets all day.  It is our once a year, the gangs all here, strategizing time.

Thursday we go to a local department store for some image consulting thanks to my friend Shari!  The store is even serving us brunch!  Oooh la la!  Then it is on to the hotel for business stuff and some training with Compassion International.  (Anyone want to sponsor a child?)

Friday kicks off the conference with the morning being geared towards the women's ministry leaders and the afternoon being for everyone.  In the evening I will meet with my critique group, which I will "lead" for the weekend.  I hate to say lead, as we are all in it together!

Saturday I teach two workshops-- one on the 12 essential elements of great writing for the Next Generation (teens) track and one on blogging.

Friday and Saturday I will have meetings with publishers interspersed with the other stuff.  I am presenting a proposal, as well as meeting with an agent to discuss some ideas I have.  Fun!

Sunday marks the end of the conference with a great worship service followed by communion.  Last year I served communion with my daughter and I will never forget it.  The emotions I felt totally surprised me.  It was humbling to be serving communion to these ladies.  I am not sure if we will do that again this year--  but we shall see!

One thing about She Speaks-- there are always some surprises thrown in for good measure!

If you are reading this, and you think about it, please pray for this conference.  It is the biggest thing Proverbs 31 does all year.  It is life-changing for so many women.  One thing that is different about this conference versus other conferences is this conference is designed to equip women to share their stories to spread the gospel and bring hope to God's people.  And Satan really doesn't want to see that happen.  So, please pray for the ladies involved-- and for the families they represent.  I know all the ladies at Proverbs would agree with me when I say: we really need your prayers!
