Life Is Hard

Do you ever feel like life is just not going great??  It is not terrible, and it could be much worse, but it is also just not as great as it could be either.

That is how my husband and I felt last night as we were going to bed.  We had discovered that our dishwasher was broken as we went to wash all the dinner dishes.  Our daughter did not get in the play that she tried out for, yet my husband had to go to the meeting for all the parents of the kids that did get in because it is our family's turn to serve as volunteer coordinators.  Talk about rubbing your nose in it!  The neighborhood we thought we could buy a house in and were all excited about is actually not affordable for what we need in a house.  My husband did not get a job that he bid that he was pretty certain he was going to get.  Less commission for us, and a blow for him.  My son brought home a 35 on a math test, then proceeded to argue with both of us that he does know the math, just like he knows everything about everything.  The school we had hoped he would get in next year has no spaces as of right now.

Bummer.

Life is hard.  We live in a fallen world.  As Christians, we can expect to be persecuted on top of just normal fallen world stuff. During times like this, I just focus on longing for Heaven, my real home.  Longing for Jesus' return and praying for God's intervention and peace in the meantime.  Thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven

Now, I know that these light and momentary troubles are not big in the grand scheme of things.  I do know that, and I don't mean to whine.  Really, I don't.  But sometimes, sometimes, I just have to stop and say, life stinks.  Circumstances around me are getting me down.

I say all this because I try to post positive stuff on my blog, but I also want you to know all of my life is not sunny and rosy and Pollyanna perfect.  Sometimes I just want to crawl in bed and sleep the day away and wake up when things are better.  I want to press that fast forward button.  I'm just being honest.  I hope that in some weird way, this will encourage someone else.

It encourages me! I know when I'm feeling down and I read through a bunch of blogs about all of the great activities that other homeschoolers are doing, and how wonderful their lives are, I feel as if I'm the only one that has money problems, toy in my floor, and kids that aren't perfect. It's nice to be reminded that we are all human, and all of us have our trials...and that someday we'll be in a much better place! :o)

marybeth,
i find your blog refreshingly honest. i appreciate the hard times you share just like the better times. none of us have perfect lives. it's easy to think that sometimes online.
i pray the next few days will fine God's light shining into the darkness of this day. i know days like this mold us together as a family.
IN HIM
