Oct. 6, 2008 My story and Simple Woman's Daybook
For Today…October 6, 2008 9:38 pm...
Outside my Window…How about, a lampchade's reflection because it's dark?
I am thinking…of more ideas for my Tess, Monica and Gloria story
I am thankful for…My family and my closest friends and...Lucille Ball!
From the kitchen...Ice CREAM
I am wearing...A white flowy nightgown with flowers on the bodice
I am reading…Kathleen's...umm, I forget the other part of the title but it's the last book of the Kathleen McKenzie series
I am hoping…I still get to go to the awesome shopping center with my best friend, Augusta tomorrow. And that I get to write my cousin who lives and Germany!
I am creating...nothing.
I am hearing…Lucy, Ricky, Fred and Ethel screaming on the Television.
Around the house... Lucille ball playing on TV, and my sister and mom talking
One of my favorite things...seeing a friend, and spending time alone.
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...Tomorrow I am going with my friend to the Cheesecake factory and a few other places, Wendsday is my FAVORITE, grocery day, and Thursday, Riva and Katie are getting groomed, and I don't know what else!
I accomplished since last week…NOTHING!
Here is the rest of Tess' Surprise Company Chapter Three
"Uh, Hi M-mm-Miss S-ss-Sarah..." Gloria stammered.
"Hi Gloria," Sarah replied, as calm as ever. "Tess told me ALL about you! She said you are very bright, and that you have gotten in to some mischief!"
Gloria looked at Sarah and smiled. "Yes, I have. I got into trouble for driving Tess' Cadillac!"
"Oh My!" Sarah said smiling. "I want you to meet my Kids, Bristol, Willow, Piper and baby Trig. My oldest, Track, is in the army, so he's not here."
"1-2-3-4-5," Gloria counted on her fingers. "That's alot of children!"
"Oh, it's not, once you get used to it! I once saw a family on TV that had 19 children!" Sarah grinned, showing her strait, snow white teeth.
As they walked to the parking garage, Piper said something humerous.
"Gloria, why do you sound like a kid?"
Everyone laughed, and Gloria just said, "Because that's the way God made me!"
Driving home, there was a hubbub of talking and excitement. Willow, who was 13, Was chatting with Gloria, Monica was laughing at some of Piper's cute remarks, Trig was squealing, and Tess was having a lively chit-chat with Sarah. Bristol had an iPod shuffle MINI and she had the music up WAY to loud.
"Bristol?" Sarah said, not knowing about the headphones. "Bristol? BRISTOL?" Wow, she must really be thnking about something, Sarah though.
The music was soon heard, and Sarah couldn't take it. "BRRIISSTTOOLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Bristol was so startled, she jumped right our of her seat!
"Bristol, what have I told you about having headphones on in the car? It irritates me that you haven't followed my words!" Bristol was embarrased and turned the music down and went to sleep.

Oct. 1, 2008 Tess's Surprise Company, Chapter 2
So Gloria went on wondering who Tess could be going to see! So Saturday afternoon went by peacfully, until the phone rang that evening, and Gloria answered.
"Good Afteroon, This is Gloria," Gloria said into the phone.
"Hi Baby, it's Tess! I was just calling to tell you I'm at my destination, and I'll be returning earlier than I thought, which'll be about late Sunday afternoon."
"Oh, GOODY!" Gloria exclaimed, busting Tess' eardrums out.
"See you tomorrow little angel!"
"Bye bye!"
Gloria hung up the phone and dialed Monica's cell. She told Monica everything, and Monica said she'd be right over to help Gloria house clean and get ready for the children that were coming.
"Gloria," Monica said, Sunday morning, to Gloria.
"Yes Monica?"
"I am going to be picking Tess up from the airport at 5, would you like to come?"
"Oh, YES please!"
"Ok, I'll be here to pick you up at 4, it takes us an hour to get to the airport "
Yes Ma'am!"
So, later that day, Monica and Gloria drove to the airport. Monica stopped at Starbucks to get a cup of coffee for herself and a strawberry frappuccino for Gloria. They went to the giftshop and bought a mug and a t-shirt each, and then sat down by the window to wait for Tess and the unknown others to fly in.
"There they are!!!" Gloria shouted as the jet flew in. Monica nodded her head and walked to the window.
"Flight number 7854 Wasilla" The speaker announced.
"Wasilla?" Gloria saked. "Isn't that Alaska? That's where Sarah Palin lives!" Monica answered politely, stating that Gloria pronounced it wrong.
Soon Tess and who was it? Gloria couldn't tell, and then when she realized who it was she screamed, "IT'S SARAH PALIN!!!!!!" Monica just smiled and told Gloria to go say hello, when other people started crowding around. Gloria was ashamed for screaming, because she knew that people would've crowded around and started asking for autographs and things like that, but Tess handled it perfectly.
"Now everyone, I wish for you to clear our of Miss Palin's way, for she is tired from her flight. Thankyou"
Gloria was relieved! She was glad when everyone cleared away and she could say "hello". It was so exciting for Gloria!
To find out what happens, wait until next time on Maryoftheprairie!

Sep. 30, 2008 Tess's Surprise Company
Hi! I am going to write my own story about Touched by an Angel!!
Troubling Tess
"dumb dee dah dah doo" the music played as Gloria drove down Peterson Road. eating french fries and a crispy chicken sandwich. Gloria was speeding over the limit, (Which was 55mph) at about 70 MPH. Tess suddenly appeared in front of her, and she slammed on the brakes.
"Tess," Gloria called out, surprised. "What are you doing here?"
"Gloria, you KNOW you are not supposed to drive my baby, or any other vehicle," Tess replied. Gloria had had a previous experience where she had almost crashed Tess' "baby", which was a 1970 red covertable Cadillac.
"I uh..I..I'm sorry...I was just craving those crispy chicken sandwiches from the local Chicken Sandwich place," Gloria said hesitantly, hoping not to get an eye to eye look from Tess. Tess could be stern, but most of the time sweet and loving.
Tess gave Gloria the look she was dreading. "Well, I was looking for my car so I could take you to get some Chicken Sandwich Crunchies. But, you just had to take the car keys and go out into this uns..ohhh...never mind, just hand over the keys!"
Gloria did as she was told, but didn't like the idea. Tess drove Gloria "home" and told her to go to her room and don't come out until the next day at 11:00 am.
"Tess? TESS? TEEEEESS?" Gloria called out on Saturday morning. No answer. "TESS?????" Still no answer. Gloria ran to the garage, only to find out that the cheery red Cadillac was gone, and she was alone. When she went back inside to find something for breakfast, she found anote on Tess's refridgerator.
" ' Gloria, I am on my way to the...well..nevermind, but I'll be back Monday afternoon. I love you baby! Love, Tess' "
Gloria burst into tears, when Monica knocked.
"Oh Monica!" Gloria was so relived, but still scared about where Tess had gone. "It's Tess, she left a note and said she would be back Monday afternoon. I don't know where she could be and..."
"Hold it, Gloria," Monica said in her sweet, calm Irish accent. "One thing at a time!"
"OK, Well, she said something about going to someone's house, someone named Sarah, she's got 5 kids, and she said she lives in Alaska, but who could that be?" Gloria wondered.
"Ah," Monica replied, "That is a surprise for I to know and you to wonder!"

Sep. 22, 2008 The Simple Woman's Daybook! (And Power!)
This is such a neat Idea! My sister Laura did it!
![[simple-woman-daybook-large.jpg]](http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_dUrUa10NCDQ/SKBceE58-lI/AAAAAAAAA7I/g_GUer9OCI0/s1600/simple-woman-daybook-large.jpg)
For Today…September 22, 2008
Outside my Window…A few BIG pine trees and an air swing.
I am thinking…I can't wait until we go to the grocery store!
I am thankful for…My family, my chickens, my house, my bed and being able to connect with friends all over the world, and getting the power back!
From the kitchen…Apple Pie mom and Nana made last night
I am wearing...Blue t-shirt hoodie, and a blue denim skirt with lace at the bottom
I am reading…New Dawn on Rocky Ridge, The Sign of the Beaver and Misty of Chincoteague (Which I've read like 10 times!!!)
I am hoping… That I get to see one of my best friends at the grocery store on Wendsday! Her name is Miss Angela (:
I am creating...Well, I'm going to do a template in a little while!
I am hearing…The piano that my Nana is playing and a fake laptop that makes noises.
Around the house…Carrie playing with that "Laptop" and mom reading
One of my favorite things…A really good book, seeing my friend at the grocery store (I know, more about the grocery store!), and having company over!
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...Go to the grocery store (There I go AGAIN!!), and probably clean up my room some.
I accomplished since last week…hmmm...
Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you…

This is my dog, Riva. She's purebred german shepherd and she's almost 6 years old. This was last fall, before she turned 5 (her birthday is November 6). So therefore, she was 4. She's SO sweet!
So, what's been going on? Well, last Sunday we had the aftermath of hurrican Ike hit us. (We don't even live near Texas!) It really scarry! The wind was blowing really hard and Laura and I went downstairs in the basement and lay on our airbed. Mom went upstairs in her bed and dad went to sleep on the couch. So it all started that morning when we went to Lowes. We came home, and Laura's "Your Friend" was there. (If you want to find out about who "your friend" is, look at December/January entries of LauraHalfPint's blog) We went into the house and the power was off. We had a snack of bread and homemade peach preserves. It was really good! When "Your Friend" and her family went home. Then, on Friday, we went to Grandma's house and took showers, came home and the power was BACK ON!
Well, I am thanking God that he brought our power back! See ya'll later!
Your Friend, Mary~ |

Well, sorry everyone, but our power is out ( I am at a friend's house using computer) and I won't be able to add entries for a while. The power outage was cause by hurrican Ike, even though we don't even live near Texas! It was an extrenmely bad wind storm, or another name is a dry tropical storm.
Willow:
I found my template on a free HSB template website. Look on sidebar for the link
Well, I am going to go find something for lunch. I hope our power comes back on soon!

Aug. 4, 2008 The County Fair!
I am going to tell ya'll about the fair!
The fair is over, so I decided to tell everyone about the fair, day by day!
Saturday- Saturday was July 26, and that was the day before the fair, when we had to bring in the chickens. We got some soft frozen lemonade and iced-tea, and then we waited for hours to weigh our broilers, literally hours! We finally got them weighed in, but then we couldn't find the right cages! So we looked for about 5 minutes, and then we asked someone, and they gave us tags so we could write our names, exhibit and 4-H club. So we picked out empty cages and attached the tags. So after all the waiting and trouble, we got the fancy show birds settled in, and then the broilers and headed home.
Sunday- Sunday was July 27, the first day of the fair and we got to there around 12 or 12:30. We cleaned the bird cages, and we headed over to the non-livestock 4-H projects building. We looked at our projects, and we saw that Laura got 1rst place for photography! Then we lokked at our other projects and headed back to the poultry barn. The show started at 1, and ended at the three. I showed 2 pens of Blue Cochins, and Laura showed a pen of Partridge Cochins.
Monday- Monday was July 28th, and we just stopped at the fair to give the broilers a bath.
Tuesday- Tuesday was July 29th, I forget what we did that day.
Wendsday- Wendsday was July 30th and that day was the broiler judging. Laura got 3rd, but I didn't get anything. But for the Skill-a-thon I got fourth. For those of you who are wondering what a Skill-A-Thon is, if you take a livestock project you have to take a test and they award you for it. My friend Quinn got 1rst place, and he won a plaque!
Thursday- Thursday was July 31st, and that was the broiler sale
Friday- Aug 1 We rode rides! We rode a miniature roller coaster, and bumper cars, ferris wheel and carousel!
Saturday-We picked up our porjects, and took home 2 abandoned chicks.
Well, I can't get any pictures on here, but, whatever!
See ya! |

Jul. 30, 2008 Broiler Judging...
Well, the broiler judging didn't go bad, but it didn't go great either.
The judge was the man of last year's Fancy Poultry, Breeders, ducks, gesse and turkey show. My broilers weren't very uniform, which meant my broilers' breasts weren't matching. It's called uniformity if they're matching. So I didn't win anything. So that's all. Tomorrow is the auction of the broilers. That's really it and I am quite tired. See ya later. Have a wonderful rest of the week |

Well, the fair started Sunday, and that day was the chicken show. I am glad that I was able to participate! I also did the showmanship, and I did a pretty good job on that, but I said it was 22 days to hatch a chick, instead of 21 days. But other than that...everything was so awesome!
Tomorrow is the meat chicken judging, at 9:00 AM, and then Thursday at 6:00 PM is the broiler sale, where we sell our pen of broilers. Also, tomorrow night is Laura's modeling, where she models her shirt. Then we don't have anything else that's really fair related.
I am excited that it is finally fair week! On Friday, we get to ride the ferris whell as many times as we want, because on Friday, the fair is letting 4-H'ers ride as many rides however many times they like for just 9 dollars!
Next year I am entering open class photography. This year for some reason the judge didn't give me an award for my photographs for 4-H, but I am not worried about it.
Pretty soon we'll get our Judging papers, and our skill-a-thon papers, to see how the judge liked our things and/or didn't like them, and to see how many questions we got right and wrong for the skill-a-thon.
I need to get going now. I hope everyone has a wonderful and happy rest of the week!

Guess what? Rusty and our dog have fleas! We gave Rusty, the cat, a bath with a certain kind of soap that kills fleas. We are going to call the dog's groomer and see if she has Frontline Plus for dogs or something that will help get rid of them.
Poor Rusty, we've been picking fleas off of him all day! And he's been laying on the couch for about 4 hours. Poor little thing! Also we had to give our dog a bath. She had flea dirt all over her! Well, atleast she isn't very tired, like Rusty. Also, guess what? The fair is in two weeks! The chicken show is in two weeks, too! We are selling some broilers, and they're doing pretty good right now, they are really getting big!
Well, I guess that does it...oh wait, the 4-H meeting is tonight! Gotta go!

Jul. 7, 2008 Our Vacation part three
Well, where did I leave off? I left off at South Dakota, and there was this school house , and the "teacher" asked Carrie some questions like, do all the grades in your school do school together? and Carrie said, well, we all do our school together..., cause you know, we're homeschooled, and the lady said, "does your school have a cafeteiria?" and Carrie said, "Well, we cook our own lunch!" And the lady looked at her like, "what is wrong with this kid!"
But we had a really nice time! I will post somemore later, I am going to get off the computer. See ya! |

Jul. 1, 2008 Our Trip Part 2
Well, Friday was Carrie's birthday, and I designed a card on www.avery.com It is a very detailed website where you can make address, labels greeting cards and more. We made our grandma and grandpa's wedding anniversary party invitations on that site.
Anyways, HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARRIE!
Well, after Pepin, Wisconsin, we left for Walnut Grove! The ride was pretty uneventful, but we think we almost ran into a tornado! We stopped in Jackson, Minnesota, and we spent the night in an AmericInn. They had a pretty nice pool and free highspped (REALLY highspeed) internet. My dad had his laptop, though! The hotel room was a suite, and I didn't like it. They had a couch and a bed. The couch had a pull out bed, and it wasn't very comfortable. The next morning we packed the truck and headed to Walnut Grove through Minnesota, the land of 10,000 lakes! And we passed a wildlife reserve, which had so many animals, Gophers, ducks, geese, swans and blue herons!!!
We finally made it to Walnut Grove and we started inside the giftshop. There you bought a LIW (Laura Ingalls Wilder) Museum pass and there was a mini school, and church. There was a room with a wagon, and lots of cool stuff in it! Also there was a house, with slates. There was a pad, that had a story on it. It had some shapes for you to draw on the slate, (which is hard to explain(: ) and it turned out to be a chicken! It was really cool! After Walnut Grove was De Smet, South Dakota, My FAVORITE Laura Ingalls house! It was so cool, and SO hands-on! Here are some pictures from the previous places and the ones from the post before this.

Chicago, Illinois, we got badly stuck in traffic there!
