Today is the first day in what seems like forever that I get to stay home the entire day. Whew! My kids are only involved with two different library reading groups and I'm worn out with all our running, I can't imagine how (or why) mothers are able to handle it when kids are active in every sport or club known to man. And I know several families like that!
I'm actually happy that my kids are not interested in organized sports, whether team or individual, less running and cutting into family-time, plus I don't care for the competive atmosphere. I'm also not worried about them getting enough exercise even without the sports either. These guys ride bikes from morning to night, play basketball, dig holes, chase the cat, chase each other, build tree-forts, swing, slide, and on and on. I sooooo love country living, they could have never been this free outside if we never left the city. Funny, how I couldn't wait to escape the country as a teenager, then I couldn't wait to get back as a parent!
Something funny that I'd heard last night. My step-son was up last night with his girlfriend and another friend. I overheard his friend ask him if I was a Kindergarten teacher, my dss said no, they homeschool. He said "Cool, that's even awesomer!" LOL, this "kid" is 22 years old!
But as the title of this entry states, I'm trying to get some major cleaning done. I hope to get caught up on the laundry, declutter the books and magazines in the living room that are out of place, put all the clean laundry away, plus pretty much everything else that needs done. It's also one of the few days lately that it isn't raining, I'd like to get some painting done on my little schoolhouse I'm working on. Well, been on break long enough, back to work! |
