Weight Loss Update

Posted in WEIGHT LOSS
Well, not much to update, unfortunately.  I haven't lost any additional weight, but on the good side, I also haven't gained any either!  I did try doing Slim-Fast for a few days, but grew weary of running to the bathroom all day since I am very lactose intolerant and they are made primarily of milk.  Plus I never noticed any difference, and I still felt hungry all day long.  My biggest problem is lack of consistent exercise and not drinking enough water.  Well, actually, not just ENOUGH water, but ANY water.  I never drink plain old water.  I have cut down on pop, even though the only pop I drink anymore is diet.  I might have one pop a week now, if that.  I still drink my iced tea I make - decaf sweetened with 1/2 sugar and 1/2 Splenda.  Just need to make myself EXERCISE, EXERCISE, EXERCISE!!!!!

Weight Loss Update

Posted in WEIGHT LOSS

I weighed myself this morning and even though I have lost 4 pounds since the first of last month, it is not as much as I had lost earlier this month.  I had lost about 7 pounds and gained some of it back.  But I'll take a 4 pound weight loss over a weight gain, so I'm still ahead!!  I know the reason I had lost more was because I'd had a mild case of the flu for about 3-4 days and barely ate anything, and once I was feeling better I, of course, ate more normally.

I have been taking more care in what I eat and drink, but not as much as I could/should be.  I haven't had much in the way of sweets, but not totally denying myself either.  I still drink iced tea all day long and rarely consume the glassfuls of water that I should.  However, my tea is made with decaffinaited tea bags and is sweetened with half sugar and half Splenda (well, Wal-Mart brand anyway), so my calories are reduced, but only a little.  We are still eating the same type of meals we all enjoy, but I do cut my portions down and try to eat more salads.  My goal was to make sure we eat a lot of fruits and veggies/salads and while we do still eat a lot, it's not as much as I'd wanted.

So, while I'm happy with a little weight loss, I'm not real pleased that it's not as great as it could have been.  One other reason, while I'm being honest, is a complete and total lack of exercise.  And with the weather being so extremely cold right now, I rarely leave the house, so I don't even get the exercise of walking around a store or anything like that.  Well, today is the beginning of a new month and one that I plan to use more effectively for my goal of weight loss.  I'll updat the first of March, and I hope I can give better results then.

Weight Loss - January 1st, 2007

Posted in WEIGHT LOSS

I've been following along on some other blogs where they place a goal of what they want to lose, then update on a set day each month.  I like this idea, also like the idea of making myself own up to whatever my weight is, either up or down from the month before.  This first month is going to be the absolute hardest to post, I'm really upset with myself for weighing what I do.  So here it is, 153 pounds.  Depressing, yes, however, I have maintained this weight for about 6 years.  Okay, I'm not bragging that I weigh this, but I'm proud that I didn't gain more.  I weigh this with pretty much no exercise and not a very good diet, so hopefully improving those two area will work out really well.

So here is my ultimate weight goal: 120 pounds.  That's a weight loss of 33 pounds, and a good weight for my frame and height of 5'2".  I've set off on weight loss tangents before only to quit pretty quickly.  But I'm hoping this arena will be the thing that actually spurs me on this time.  I really want to lose the weight, I hate looking at myself in the mirror or in pictures.  I don't want to just lose the weight either, I want to get more fit, too.  I have a Gazelle that I use (rarely) for exercise, so I'll be dusting that off tomorrow.  A great benefit of the Gazelle is that the kids love using it too, so that will help them burn off some of there pent-up energy too.

I'm not going to mention to my family that I'll be attempting to lose weight, but I'm sure they will notice some of the changes I'll be making.  Foodwise, I'll be eating LOTS more fruit, veggies, and salads for every meal.  Of course, I'll still keep eating the regular foods too, I'll just try to fill up more with the healthy stuff before eating the other foods.  Plus, no more pop, not even diet pop (well, no more than one can a week anyway).  I do drink iced tea that I make with half sugar and half splenda, but I'll be limiting that too and drinking a lot more water.  One major thing I'm doing is I won't make any foods off limits, that way I won't feel I'm denying myself anything, I'll just limit my portions size.

I'll post again on the first of February with my progress and what I've done to work towards my ultimate goal.
