Ohio--First Ever Home Education Rule

Revisions Not Harmful to Homeschoolers

Dear HSLDA Members and Friends,

The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) has completed its regular five-year review of the home education rules in the Ohio Administrative Code Section 3301-34, which it began in August of 2008.

The ODE revised the regulations for the first time since 1989. The changes made, however, are minor technical changes and are not harmful to homeschoolers.

HSLDA urged its members and friends to express their opinion during the ODE's public comment period and ask for no change in the regulations. Over 8,000 comments were left. HSLDA thanks everyone who took the time to leave comments. It truly did make a difference.

Thank you for your support and all you do to preserve homeschooling freedom in Ohio.

Very truly yours,

Michael P. Donnelly, Esq.

HSLDA Staff Attorney
