Live The Abundant Life

• Jun. 13, 2006 - What You Need to Consider Is...

Why am I doing this (devotions, and specifically - what you do in your devotional time)? What is my goal? What do I actually want to acheive by doing them (which is not the same thing as "What do I want to acheive during them?)?
Once you've asked all those you'll be left to consider: Is what I'm doing now for devotions actually working towards this? Or not?
Don't worry Graceful Journey, we'll eventually get to the answers too!

Just wanted to let you know that I am still reading, thinking, praying, listening to God about devotions, quiet time prayer life, spiritual disciplines, etc.
I am in a blue funk right now . . . missing my kids, PMSing, stressing over some life situations. Needing God more than ever, reluctant to sit still with Him but He holds me through out it all.
Enjoying the process as we try to figure all of this out . .. and maybe that is the whole point, it is just a process. Maybe we need to quit expecting to get to the place of "perfect devotions" and "awesome quiet times" and "powerful hours of prayer" and just be aware of where we are at right now.
and right now, I need to be in bed, letting God lead me to peaceful sleep.

Examining our motives always makes our goals clearer...and whether or not we really want to achieve those goals our motives are pushing us toward. Good questions.
