If You Give a Family a Farm...

Posted in Homesteading

Oh my...this is so VERY appropos!

Go visit Nancy Carter's blog about farm life...you'll get your money's worth in a good giggle.

I guess I'm headed in the right direction...I've already got that full-size truck, a little organic garden, the dog and a rabbit.  Now if only the dog wouldn't get car sick, and the rabbit were, um, edible.  ;-)

Our best afternoons this summer were the ones spent eyeballing those $1 chicks at the feed store.

And the turkeys.

And the geese.

And the guinneas.

SEE HOW THAT HAPPENS????

I definitely think you are off to a good start. The truck is a very good thing and I'm thinking you have a lovely green thumb growing things all organically! Every little project that you start on the farm just leads to the next thing though. Lots of work, but sooo much fun. We had a great time eyeballing all the baby chicks at the feed store here. Wound up with 50 from a hatchery and started them all out in the house in a giant rubbermaid box. And just in case you are wondering... yep, even changing the litter everyday, it stunk. They had to go out to the garage for step 2.

Nancy's right...you're well on your way. But the Harley...hmmm, I'm not seeing it in the dewy meadows somehow! For that price you could get a pretty sweet Kubota tractor..or one of those cool John Deere utility vehicle things. Maybe you should start hanging out around THOSE dealerships. And btw, don't you even THINK of eating your daughter's pet rabbit. For shame! "Tastes Like Chicken!!!" Mmmm.
