As we study the little house series we have begun learning how to quilt. It has been alot of fun and I am so proud at the great job my children have done. Look at the wonderful gift my oldest daughter made for her grandmother!

She hand quilted the inner squares then we went to the sewing machine for the border and back and batting. She did such a great job!!!! |

Sep. 21, 2007 Our First Little House Picnic
We are doing a unit study of Little House on the Prairie this year. We will read through each of the nine book in the Little House series and cover topics in each subject, Science, History, Art, English and Bible relating it to what we are reading. For Math we are using Math-U-See which seem to be working well. This is for my 4 girls.
My son is studying World War 2. This will cover Language and History. Currently we are reading and studying the Great Depression and causes of the War. For Science we are using Abeka and for Math we are using Lifepacs. For Bible all of the children are doing Copywork through the book of Psalms.
Since I have two preschoolers I also do preschool with with my niece once a week. On this day we study a science topic more in depth. We are currently doing Butterflies and their life cycle.
So far our school year is off to a great start!
Here is a photo of our first Prairie Picnic. We made homemade butter, strawberry jam, fresh homemade baked bread, Jonnycakes and lemonade. It sure took us a long time to prepare this quick lunch, but we had a great time!
Here are some butterflies we caught while we are doing our study on them.

Aug. 8, 2007 Vacation Before School Starts
Before we get back into a schedule we like to just unwind and forget about eveything. This year we will be going to Arizona for 2 weeks. We will travel to Overgard, then to Pine Top, down to Tuscon and then back to Indio, California just a little aways from Palm Springs. Then we will come back to life and I will start journaling our homeschooling journey with you.We will be doing a year long study of the 19th Century and going through the Little House On The Prairie Books with our four girls. Our Son will be doing a very in depth study of Worl War 2 covering many topics. I will share this with you all. Until then you can visit my other blog if you like that will share more on family and will include many photos and bible studies as the Lord leads me to write them. You can see it at: www.homeschoolblogger.com/pathoflife
Have a great end of summer,
Loving God With all my heart,
Michele |
