Simple Godly Living
|
Recently I decided that I am going to start sewing again for my daughters. I haven't made them anything more than a skirt in so long. My oldest daughter really would like some modest dresses because she loves long dresses. She has told me many times that she want's to live as a Pioneer when she is grown. We recently watched a video about illustrator Tasha Tutor who does indeed live like a pioneer.
http://www.tashatudorandfamily.com/video_audio.htm She is a really unique person who has always lived in a sort of magical world we all dream of. This only fueled my daughters drive to live her life a bit differently than the rest of us. My daughter is not an illustrator though, she is a writer. Here is the opening excerpt from one of her books... "There are certain times in your life when you have to remember how to breathe. It can vary since each person has a unique life, but here are a couple of basics. 1. On your wedding day You also should consentrate on your air intake if you are having an emergency, but the time you most often need an oxygen machine is when the dream you have been dreaming your whole life finally comes true. For some people that's the time when the crowd is screaming and a golden medal is being hung around your head at the olympics. For others it is just simply having your house spotless for a week. (Welcome to the world of my mom). Some people shoot for the stars, others just set goals and dreams for things they know they can do. Then there's me: I'm not sure it is possible. I mean, for some people it is easy. For a city girl like me, it is quite difficult. But hey, Cinderella didn't know the first thing about palace life and she wenf from ashes to a castle with a handsome prince. But my castle is different. It's called living as a pioneer. O.K. my mom says I need to clarify what "pioneer" means. Technically it means someone who is willing to do something new, even at great cost. But a pioneer in my perspective is someone who lives a simple farm life, wears modest long dresses, and lives apart from the crud of today like T.V. and the internet. The problem is I have no idea how to do this, but I guess that's just how life works. You take it as it comes and lean on God when you can't figure things out. " So I am off to order patterns at http://www.modestsewingpatterns.com/patterns.html
