Sharing The Journey

Remembering September 11th, 2001

Someone in my "Nurturing Our Daughters" (NOD) yahoo group started a thread entitled "Remembering September 11th". This was my response and I thought I could share it here...

It was an idyllic morning. I had just made breakfast. I was washing dishes and humming along the hymn being played on radio. Then there was a news flash. It was unreal. I ran upstairs to the bedroom. My husband was getting ready for work and as incoherent as I was, my words grabbed his attention. We dashed down the stairs, turned on the television and watched the replay of the first tower being attacked. We just stood there totally aghast. Thankfully our daughter was still asleep.

I called a good friend and told her to turn on the television. I remember returning to the great room to watch the horrible scenes on the television, trying to make sense of everything. We were still in a state of shock when  the second tower was hit. My husband and I held each other in utter disbelief. I think that was replayed a few times before it hit home. That was the second tower. We had seen it happen in real time! We shed more tears and prayed. I will never forget that day.

That afternoon two friends came over with their sons. It was the children's play day. As the children played, we spent much time just talking quietly and praying together.

May the Lord be merciful, and may this never happen again. God bless all those who had to go through that horrible day in one way or other.
