I'm trying not to cry tonight. I just realized that several of my blog friends are leaving blogdom for a while or permanently. That's sad.
Guess that means I'll have to try to find some local friends. LOL.
I'm still weighing what to do next year for school. The kids got into a "cottage school" program at a very reputable Classical Academy about 1 hour from the house. It is a public school, but about 95% conservative Christians there in a very conservative area of Colorado Springs. They would only go for 2 mornings (8:30 to 11:30) and only study Language Arts (Shurley Grammar, Spalding method spelling and Step up to Writing) with some other "fun" classes (art, Spanish, PE). Would you do it?
Burn out is still looming (sp?) on the horizon. We're doing some lapbooks to break the "workbook" nature of the k12 curriculum we're trudging through with the Virtual School we're a part of this semester. Haven't decided whether we'll do this again or not - even part time.
I keep praying: Lord, what would you have us do?
Patience, Mel, patience.

Hi! Thanks for the encouraging words. I will still be reading my favs and catching up. I am not gone permanently yet. I hope to be back. I just need to work on a few things (me and my kids and making the right priorities). I know you understand. Email me anytime you wanna talk. I will send an email on what we do during the day since you asked. I hope to encourage you to keep homeschooling. It doesn't have to be difficult even though many times we make it difficult.
Talk to you soon.
Susan

why not? especially if it takes over some of the stuff that can be stressful... it gives you a break a couple mornings a week, and they get to do some FUN stuff that you don't have to organize! ALWAYS a bonus in my book! It might actually make your homeschool BETTER because of it, you know?
Hang in there...

Sorry for the anonymous post, I'm too tired to "log in". Drat.
Just wanted you to know that I miss you. I have not been blogging much. Don't have the time ~ First Class is growing so fast we can barely keep up.
I lost your phone number! Wish we could chat.
I'm praying for you.
I might be coming to the springs to help my dad move back to Oregon. I'd LOVE to see you :)
Love
Heidi

Hi Melanie,
I had been wondering about you not long before you made your most recent entry. This is the first chance I've had to come leave you a comment.
Many left HSB because when they upgraded a few months ago, there were many, many bugs. Sometimes you could post, sometimes you couldn't. Same way with comments. I think they are mostly worked out now. And I so love the community here that you won't get with other blog hosts that I stayed. There are a lot of new, neat people too. I can't believe how much HSB has grown in the last year.
God bless,
Christine
BTW, No, I would do nothing involving public school. Won't even take my son for speech therapy at the local PS. My opinion, there needs to be as much seperation as possible between us and PS. I fear that someday the powers that be will think that because we need "help" to homeschool, we shouldn't be allowed to do so. My in-laws fought for our right, I don't want my children or grandchildren to have to do it again. (this is coming from the wife of a second generation hs'er, so I'm very passionate about this).
