• Nov. 10, 2005 - Pray: there is immeasurable power in it

I wanted to ask for prayers for a dear family we know.  A friend's sister and her children were involved in a car accident and one of the children died, whereas the remaining two have been released from the hospital this evening.  The mother is in critical condition with many injuries ranging from her head to her feet.  It is uncertain as to whether she is currently aware of her daughter's death due to her sedation for the pain.  Please pray for this precious family, for their loss, for this woman of God (yes, they are believers) who is a mother, wife, sister, and daughter to those in her presence right now.

It isn't until we are faced with circumstances such as this that we realize just how many things we are to how many people.  We are touching people and serving them daily and so rarely do we realize the impact of our existence.  This family's lives are changed forever with the loss of their daughter/sister/niece.  Please pray for acceptance and healing and that their reliance will be on their Heavenly Father in whose arms she lies.

Eyes that Weep by Connie Hinnen Cook

What to say to eyes that weep,
Eyes with tears that cannot keep,
Eyes that find no rest in sleep,
What to say to eyes that weep...

Do not say, "Cheer up, my friend,
Don't you know that this will end?
Hope is just around the bend,
Life is great ~ Cheer up, my friend."

Do not say, "You're right to cry,
Life is cruel, no use to try,
Just give up, curse God and die,
All is vain ~ You're right to cry."

Say no words to weeping eyes,
Don't condone or criticize,
Grieve with them till sorrow dies,
Christ Himself shared weeping eyes.

--Connie

"When Jesus therefore saw her weeping,
and the Jews who came with her, also weeping,
He was deeply moved in spirit, and was troubled...
and Jesus wept."
(John 11:33,35 NASB)

I can't imagine...and I love the verse you quoted at the end. It really helps to keep things in perspective. What kind of god do we serve? One who, even knowing the glorious fulfillment of His plan from the beginning, cries with mourners gathered at a funeral. He knows He is about to perform a great miracle, one showing that He truly has the power over death itself, and yet he weeps. This gives us permission to grieve...and a model of how we should comfort our brothers and sisters in their loss. That verse about all things working to His glory doesn't quite do the situation justice, even though it is true. When w are grieving, I think we mostly need someone to hold us, not instruct us. And that is just what Christ did : )

About Me

Having just embarked on the homeschooling adventure this year, I have quickly come to realize that I am nothing more than my weblog title implies: a student with unlimited chalkboard privileges. I love the learning process and am so blessed to be given the opportunity to serve my children through homeschooling.

What Do You Think?

I began homeschooling because:
the school system is overcrowded, underpaid, and therefore ineffective for my child.
God told me to.
my child did not want to go to school as a result of social issues.
my child has special needs and the school system did not have adequate programs in place to address them.
