Posted in Felt Friday

So, here we are putting up the Christmas light this year.  I already posted on this wonderous event so I will just give you a little review...

1. Dad does great job putting the lights on the tree in a jiffy.
2. Two days later Shayla plugs in the lights and the whole strands blows out.
3. Mom tries to put lights on and wraps too tight...ending much too soon.
    Unwraps tree.
Rewraps tree while pulling out hair.
4. Tree gets wrapped correctly and the girls love the rainbow lights.
5. Everyone stands around our angel-topped tree forgetting all about the headache.

Merry Christmas - and remember that it is still a beautiful holiday, even if your tree isn't!

What's the fastest way to get our children to stop fighting over who gets to pet Cruella?

Ask who is going to clean the potty box...

It's amazing how quickly a silence falls over the crowd.

You could practically hear the tumbleweed rolling down the hallway...

• Nov. 12, 2005 - The little red sweater

Posted in Felt Friday

As you can see, the felt hubby and wife were out on a date last night and were unavailable for their weekly pose.  You will have to forgive them but they had a fabulous time.  The eating place was Monti's La Casa Vieja on Mill Avenue in Tempe.  You would think from the name that the place was Mexican food...we did...but we came to find out that they are famous for their steaks.  Tempe is a great place to visit if you ever find yourself in Arizona.  Over the years they have added a lake with paddleboats and a beautiful park where you can ride bikes or experience the Lobster Fest this weekend!  However, the crowd is young as it is a college town...not that my hubby and I aren't young, but it was rather odd when I heard myself say "these kids" as I described the street life.

The steak was great!  However, red meat and dairy appear to have it out for the me the last few years and so I eat them rarely.  I am not sure if I am missing an enzyme or what but digestion of these foods is NO FUN!

However, first, we stopped into Ross to try and find one of those little shrug sweaters to go over my spaghetti strap dress since all I had was a business suit jacket from my corporate America days.  We found a cute little red one that complimented the red in the flowers of the dress.  Here's a better look at the details...it is so cute!

I can't believe no one has posted any Thanksgiving recipes!  I was really looking forward to hearing from everyone and I was sure that nearly everyone had a favorite dish for the holidays.   I am still looking for the best sweet potatoes and marshmallows recipe...please share!!

• Nov. 4, 2005 - It's the very first Felt Friday!

Posted in Felt Friday

So, today will suffice as our introduction to the family.  You can see us all here left to right: Lillian (3), Dad, Mom, and Shayla (8).  As you can see, Lillian is our wee-est wee one...and her mouth be on upside down as it appears to be a bit of a frown.  Dad is all duded up and always color coordinated.  Mom was also dressed by Dad who seems to have placed Mom in a "padded" dress today!  Shayla is our blond hair, blue eyed gal who never seems to have her feet on the ground.  Be sure to check in on us every Friday!  Next week we will be sure to introduce our bun-bun Cruella so stayed tuned!

Though there are MANY things I have on my mind to blog about since I have been away for what seems so long, I must keep this short and sweet because bedtime calls.  By the by...we got Shayla's site design up and running to her satisfaction.  We have some pretty cool features we want to add so definitely keep sending your chitlins to check out her site and give her a big hello!  She really would love to have some other friends on here to chat with about homeschooling life.

About Me

Having just embarked on the homeschooling adventure this year, I have quickly come to realize that I am nothing more than my weblog title implies: a student with unlimited chalkboard privileges. I love the learning process and am so blessed to be given the opportunity to serve my children through homeschooling.

What Do You Think?

I began homeschooling because:
the school system is overcrowded, underpaid, and therefore ineffective for my child.
God told me to.
my child did not want to go to school as a result of social issues.
my child has special needs and the school system did not have adequate programs in place to address them.
