Atkins Farm has a gourd festival in the Spring where people come from all over to share all sorts of creations made from gourds. Our 1st gourd festival was a great success. We were hoping for 100 visitors and had over 250. Don't miss this years festival!
Open 8am - 5 pm, Admission is FREE
Kids Kreations $5.00 per child to paint their own gourd.
Mississippi Gourd Society will be here with demonstrations throughout the day on different gourd techniques. Join the society while you're here!
A gourd raffle, $1.00 per ticket: three gourd vases with gourd flowers and critters; one for the spring, one for fall and one for winter.
Silent auction
Gourd vendors from several states will be here with beautiful and unique creations from gourds.
Raw gourds will be for sale and gourd craft supplies.
Morning Classes:
Gourds 101
New or Old to gourds you will love this class. It covers an overall view how gourds are planted, raised, harvested, cleane, and prepared to craft. A slide show will be presented to explain the cultivating of gourds. You will be shown how a pattern is placed on a gourd with press -n- seal and wood burned. Next, you will copy and woodburn your selected pattern on a gourd then paint with acryics, seal and varnish. You will learn alot from this class, and have a great time. If you have a wood burner bring it with you, if not some will be provided to share.
Class will be from 9am to 12pm.

Afternoon Classes:
Painted Chicken (Click)
If you like chickens, this is the class you need to take. In this class you will be shown how to paint a full size chicken. Then you will varnish the gourd. Everything will be furnished for you at the class. You will end up with a beautiful chicken to place inside or outside your home. Makes for a great accent piece.
Class time: 1pm to 4 pm.
