Back to "normal" around here after a wee break for Labor Day. I personally think that we full-time workers at home should take that day to celebrate LABOR as in the real thing--after all, when else do we do that? Birthdays end up being about the child (understandable, but we're the ones who almost died, mind you!) and so we need a day to celebrate labor--to celebrate it being OVER, that is!
We had a fun potluck on Sunday after church; there were tons of people (many I'd never seen before) and we had a talent contest (of sorts)--the little girls got up and danced around, some of the older ones sang silly songs, and there were a few serious contenders. My eldest and third sang and played guitar along with a great Christian song called "Never Underestimate my Jesus" and they did a good job! I felt *horrid* that day, having overdone it, I think, spending the night helping with the quadruplets. I might have to take a break 'til the first trimester blahs have passed, unfortunately. Anyway, yesterday was much better and I spent the day cleaning (yuch! But it was much overdue) and we had friends over in the evening for a barbecue. I was thinking about how totally stressed dh and I both get in preparing to have company; there's always way too much cleaning to do and we never seem to have enough time to do it (read: we procrastinate) but then once everyone GETS here, it's so great. I think it's the devil, personally, who just doesn't want us to relate or practice hospitality or whatever we're trying to accomplish.
Anyway, one thing I know is; if you're procrastinating and having trouble getting your house clean, this is how to get it done: INVITE SOMEONE OVER FOR FRIDAY NIGHT! This also works for getting the lawn cleaned and the grill repaired, by the way, LOL.
Hope you enjoyed a break yesterday. Happy labor day--you made it through, at least once! ;-)
