Pastor Alan is teaching on the Old Testament Feasts on Sunday nights, and last night was about The Feast of Unleavened Bread. It overlaps the Feast of the Passover, so they really go together. Jesus is the Bread of Life, right? Well, last night he read a verse and something popped out at me that I'd never seen before. Do you see it?
Exodus 12:19 So the people took their dough before it was leavened , with their kneading bowls bound up in the clothes on their shoulders . . .
I love it! They were in a hurry when they left Egypt, and had to take their bread dough before it had a chance to rise (they'd been instructed not to add any leaven). So they put the dough in the bowls, and wrapped them in cloths. That's the part that stuck out. My first thought was of Jesus, who was wrapped in cloths and then laid in the manger. So sweet! If you've never studied the OT Feasts and how they've been fulfilled in Christ, it's a great study to do!
