This year, I didn't do a good job.
The unschooling experiment was a failure. I think it's ridiculous, and today, if someone told me that they don't direct their kids at all, the kids just work on whatever they want and still test well and learn everything they need to, I would call them a liar.
J's handwriting and math books are lost. My oldest doesn't want to write down what his work plan for the next 8 weeks will be. I have to go through and edit the chapter in our history book (the one that I *think* we left off with) before I can read it, and that's if I can get the baby to be quiet enough for anyone to hear.
My husband isn't answering his phone, and neither is my homeschooling friend. No one to commiserate with . . . and I do mean that "miser-" part . . .
I stink at this. I want to quit.

Apr. 8, 2008 - Maybe it is time to send the older ones to High School and just concentrate on the younger ones.

That is a huge age span to try to do all alone. The older ones have a great foundation and now shoudl be ready to go out into the world and let their light shine, while you concentrate on giving the younger ones a soid foundation to build on.
Don't be too hard on yourself. Most teachers feel that way this time of year.LOL

We try things...sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. That's all. Do not beat yourself up or quit (although I know EXACTLY how you feel right now *sigh*) Call me....
Love, Gan

Don't beat yourself up so much. We all have years that aren't as stellar as others. If the kiddos were in school it would be the same situation. Some teachers are better than others and some classrooms run better than others. The chances of your children getting the best teacher/class every time is highly unlikely. Hope you find a more comfortable fit for next year.
Blessings,
Dawn

You like Thomas Edison and Einstein have discovered what does not work for your family! Now to find what does work for them, and for that I am asking the Lord to be Merciful to you pour out His gift of creativity to you and to show you His plan for your children. The Test they need to pass is the the one when they walk through the fire and wood stuble and hay burns away and they are Golden in front of their Savior. The rest is finding how they learn best and a curricula they like, we went through so many til I found what they liked learning from. I pray you find one soon.
Because of Jesus, Bobbie
