*Bobbie: Thanks so very much for your kind words and prayers for Bo! I really appreciate them, and am also looking forward to seeing them come to fruition. Bo will be home in 26 days (I need to make a new ticker! ;-) ) and I find myself just wishing I could be there seeing all that's happening, since I know he can't possibly remember it all!
*Suzanne: I'm so glad I was able to help! That's so wonderful. I'm getting more and more excited about CC as time goes on, LOL! I did read someone the other day saying that they thought it was a lot if you wanted to do some other curriculum and then tack it on top; she thought it was better to use CC as the spine of what you're doing instead. That's actually my plan. We love Sonlight but have gotten sortof burned out each time we've worked through American History for some reason, so this year I'm using CC and expanding on their topics by using Sonlight readers and History Pockets for lapbooking. How did you like the seminar? I'm excited! So glad I could help!
*Chris: Thanks for letting me know about your organization. I'd like to hear more about your purpose; I read the website and it looked great. I do believe these kids need Christ. Their physical needs must be met, but the spiritual is even more important. I will be praying for you!
It's Saturday--hurray! We had a good week, but it was a bit rough with about half of us being sick; colds, fever *and* a stomach bug of some kind. Blech! Anyway, it's a gorgeous day outside and hopefully we'll get a few things done around here.
The 5-cent school supply sale is on this weekend at Staples starting tomorrow! Grab a Sunday paper and just make a list. I did some shopping last week at WalMart and need to hit the end of Walgreen's sales today! WalMart had glue sticks/glue for 22-cents, filler paper for 50-cents, crayons for 22-cents, and folders for 12-cents (I think.) That probably runs through today. Walgreen's has mechanical pencils or pens for 39-cents, markers for $1, Sharpies for 50-cents, index cards for 33-cents, pencil sharpeners 3/$1, safety scissors for $1, and mini-highlighters for 19-cents. I just read that through today, Office Depot has rulers, protractors, erasers and folders for 1-cent! Staples usually has great penny sales, but it looks like it's time to start watching all the stores. We enjoy school shopping every year, but with so many to buy for, I need to get some great deals. I told the kids that I'm going to hunt things down while they're on sale, and then they can "go shopping" in the hall closet!
This is a great time to buy if your church is doing any kind of kids' school supply giveaway, too!
Target is also clearancing *tons* of stuff. My df said she bought seven pair of shoes there yesterday--at about $3.50 each! I like to grab summer shoes for next year there when they're so low. Sometimes I put them away to give the girls at Christmastime! They've got toys on clearance, too, so check that out.
I took S to get her hair cut yesterday, and she looks like a little pixie. Too cute. Tonight V and I will attend a friend's ballet recital, which should be lots of fun!
I'm reading Joy Dawson's book, Forever Ruined for the Ordinary: the Adventure of Hearing and Obeying God's Voice, and it's awesome! A great read for anyone interested in learning how to really hear the Lord. I can't imagine my life without God's direction, and much of what she says is very familiar to me. It's nice to have things affirmed, and there's also a lot here to think about.
Do Hard Things by the Harris brothers is now my favorite teen book; I need to buy a bunch of copies and give them away to my kids' friends! Seriously, I think that may be something we do as part of our weekend outreaches planned for the fall.
Sally Clarkson sent out an email saying that she's got a new vision for starting a network for moms small groups. I'm so excited about that; Sally is really the only person I know who writes Bible-study type books for mothers especially, and she's just my favorite. I'm looking forward to being part of whatever she starts, that's for sure! Please pray for them as they are in the process of presenting some of their ideas to various national ministry leaders who may be in a position to help promote the idea.
If you've never seen the site http://largefamilylogistics.lifewithchrist.org/index.html
but you have a large family and are looking for advice, you've got to check it out! There are tons of ideas here for organizing life, especially for homeschool families of many. Of course, I suppose you're considered "large" these days if you've got more than 2 kids, LOL--we personally decided we were a large family the day we had 4, so we've surpassed that by a bit now! Anyway, I love the website though the mom in charge isn't doing any new blogging there anymore--there are great links along the side, one of my favorites being a page you can print out for when the whole house is messy and you need to clean it all at once.
Well, that's it for this morning! I'm off to my day. I'm hoping to get a new update from the Amazon sometime, and hopefully the house will be cleaner by the time I head out with little Princess this evening! Have a great weekend.
