A Day in the Life

Me got rock

Okay, so the 4yo doesn't have the best grammar ever. And he gets things stuck in his head sometimes. But he's still a bright kid! We watched the Charlie Brown special the other night and he's very concerned about Charlie only getting rocks and was very worried that people would give him rocks for Trick or Treating. Well, instead, he got way too much candy - again!

I can't say I remember much about being 4 and I often wonder how his brain works. I bought a book about left-handedness the other day since he's the only lefty in the family. I think I'm more worried now than I was! I knew I was missing things about him being left-handed, hopefully, I'll keep re-reading this book to remind me how different life is for him. If you need a resource for a lefty, check this out:  Left-Handed But Not Left Behind.  For more information or to order: http://www.lefthandedinfo.com It had a lot of interesting information.

One of the things this book mentioned was lefties being more creative. Apparently, it's not a scientific fact but I think my lefty is more creative than the rest of us! I hope I don't mess this kid up! It was sort of a morbid joke but I thought it was good for a 4yo. It was a knock, knock joke. 'Who's there?', 'Lincoln', 'Lincoln, who?', 'Lincoln died' Okay, it wasn't funny but I think he's trying to understand, not only knock, knock jokes, but a little more about Lincoln. Ever since we went to DC this past summer, he has been interested in Lincoln. He wants to know what happened to John Wilkes Booth and where are they today - along with any of his other friends.

I have to say that I'm also impressed with his memory. We watched that Charlie Brown show last Friday, and he's still worried about rocks.

The battle of the sexes? In my house?

LOL I live with 3 boys and we're having the battle of the sexes, I think girls are winning! Both my two little boys keep telling me that they like girls best. Which is good, I guess. I'm not sure if hubby likes that or not!

Ryan is struggling with the day to day work of 2nd grade. Camden thinks it's all borning (I love how he puts that extra 'n' in there.) But, we get to have fun playing games too. I can't imagine ever regretting homeschooling them!

Fall is coming!! Fall is coming!!

I was trying to work on next month's homeschooling plans and keep coming back to the theme of 'Fall.' I have some good books and ideas about studying Fall and I don't know if I should do it now, or wait. We don't get Fall until November in SC, if then. I like to study things before they happen but if we talk about the weather cooling off and the leaves changing color, I think it's a little early to study it. I guess I'll just do a simple 'Season' explaination now and work on leaves and cooler weather later. It's hard to come back 2-3 months from now and say 'See? This is what I was talking about.' The 7yo would remember but the 4yo would look at me like I'm nuts. (Not that he doesn't already!)

On a side note, as I was cozied up with the two of them in the twin bed this morning, I noticed that the 4yo still has his baby fat. Seems like the 7yo has been boney for a while, it made me sad that I didn't notice the loss of his baby fat. Camden still has his cute little pudgy hands. You'd think with all my recent sentiments that it was them that was coming up on a birthday soon! LOL

They're only little for a little while!

My heart melts so often because of my sweet boys. I keep praying that they stay little for at least another day, it does seem like they keep growing up bigger and bigger.

Last night, my youngest woke up in the middle of the night and I believe that he always calls for me when he wakes up but I don't mind going in to see what he needs. But, last night it was a little different. Oh, it started off like usual with his "moommm, MOM!" followed by a new thing, a quiet little 'nevermind' LOL It was so unusual that I had to go see what was up. I got a nice hug and kiss and then he needed a drink of water and I got another hug and a kiss before I tucked him back into bed. I love all these little moments!

Plans for the future

One of my many goals in homeschooling is to hopefully give my kids a better education and a better outlook towards the future. We are constantly exploring different things they can be when they grow up. So far, Camden wants to drive a truck but he hasn't decided which one yet and Ryan is wanting to build a zoo on the moon.

Right now, I would be happy if they could read and write. The 4yo did a pretty good job of writing his name the other day, I was rather impressed. The 7yo gets intimidated by reading anything longer than 5 or 6 words - he can read, he just doesn't want to admit it. I need to work on making reading fun.

(I'm watching Lester Holt on the Today show currently - I have a picture of me with him! I've met someone famous!! LOL)

A beginning

Well, here I begin a new blog.  Hopefully, I'll keep up with this one!

Both of my boys are making me very proud so I'll probably brag about them a bunch. We've been doing 2nd grade and preschool for a few weeks now.

I gave my 7yo a puzzle to work on. 16 pieces four different color with each color coming in one of 4 different shapes. The idea is to lay them out so that there are no two colors or shapes in the same row or column. Daddy and I worked on it a little bit on and off but it took the 7yo to solve it. :)

The 4yo has a President Lincoln fixation since we went to DC this summer and saw the big man's memorial. He really wants to know what happened to the bad man and all of President Lincoln's friends. I've been trying to figure out a good concrete way to show him how he lived years, and years, and years ago.

Now, if we can just get our science experiments to work!
