A parent’s right to raise their children as they see fit is a time-honored American tradition, but today it is being threatened. The Supreme Court’s Troxel v. Granville decision in 2000 undermined a 75-year heritage of Constitutionally-protected, fundamental parental rights, which 8 of the 9 justices abandoned. At the same time, a growing body of international law fuels activist judges to legislate foreign standards from the American bench, while treaties such as the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child would subject parental decisions to government oversight and international review.

Rep. Pete Hoekstra (MI-2) has proposed HJR-42, the Parental Rights Amendment, to stop the erosion of parental rights in American courts while simultaneously defending our laws from international invasion. Please, visit parentalrights.org to learn more about the Amendment, and to join their email network by signing the petition to protect parental rights.

Graduation

8:49 PM, May. 30, 2009 .. 0 comments .. Link
Attended the 2009 graduation at Moody Bible Institute Spokane. What an awesome event. It is so encouraging to see these young people ready to be used by God. My soon to be son-in-law graduated with his BA in Biblical Studies...with honors.

The wedding is in 3 weeks and 2 days. Excitement is building for sure. Hollie is just glowing. She took her dad and I to see the apartment they just rented. It is a cute little apartment and will make a nice first home for them. I still need to finish shopping for clothes for my crew. 2 daughters still need dresses and then I need shirts and shoes for the boys. All the girls need haircuts and some of the boys do too. These next few weeks are gonna be busy.

It has been really warm here and the children just had way too much energy this afternoon. After Dan went to work, I loaded up all the kids, we went through the drive through at Micky D's and then headed to the park to eat cheeseburgers and fries and then go for a long walk. The trails are beautiful with all the treess and a waterfall, complete with 2 turtles basking in the sun on a rock.  Hiliarie loves to go "hiking" as she calls it and her little legs hold up pretty well.

We get home in time to start showering smelly little boys and have some wind down time before bed. This evening I am going over the newsletter for Valley Home Scholars that was just sent to me. I will get it all ready to be e-mailed on Monday morning.

If you haven't heard Voddie Baucham, you should. He speaks truth, without apology. He is becoming one of my favorite Pastors to listen to online.

I haven't had time to blog the last couple weeks. The weather is getting warmer and that means things get a little more difficult for Hilarie. Yesterday she woke up and she looked great. By the end of the day her legs were pretty bad, but her face is so soft. I started up with the steroid ointment and that is really helping. The problem will be when I stop, her skin will get worse. It is a vicious cycle because if I use the steroid cream all the time it also stops begin as effective. We have many different prescription creams and I switch them as needed. I really don't like using all the prescriptions, but at this point haven't found an alternative...and I have tried many, many different things.

Because her skin was so much better today with almost no open spots I let her play in the dirt. She loves the dirt and I think dirt is good for children. I am careful with Hilarie and dirt because of her skin. Here is a picture of a delightfully dirty and happy Hilarie:

I had a birthday last week, turned 46. We had a great day. My girls made Taco Soup for me and brownies. Heather and Dan and Hollie and Carter all came over to have dinner with us. Dinner is always fun when everyone is over. Lots of laughter and silliness. Newlyweds are so funny.

Hollie is getting married in less than a month. I still have some shopping to do to get my family dressed for the wedding, but I have my outfit...whew, that is the toughest part for me.

Heide picked up some extra shifts at work this week so I have been driving...and driving. Today and tomorrow will be lots of driving. I am glad everything is close, but it still really interrupts the day when I have to leave for 15 minutes every couple hours..it feels like every couple hours.

I will be heading to the gym this morning, gotta find a book. I just finished book 6 of the Mitford Series and I don't have the next book. I am reading Home School Heroes by Christopher Klicka. This is an excellent book about the battles that have been fought in order to gain our freedom to homeschool. Every home schooler should read this book.

Well, I need to get moving, I still haven't started a load of laundry, great, behind already. :-)

Thursday

Today starts with an 8 am orthodontist appointment for Heide. Her appointment goes well and at home I make a few phone calls and we get going on our regular day.

Today is also volunteer day at the hospital so I make my usual trips taking Heide, and then Joseph and then picking them both up at 5. While they are there, I take Hilarie to the doctor. We start with the pediatrician each spring and then during the summer make our rounds with the allergist and dermatologist. Hilarie had blood work today to test for new allergies. She did so good, not a single tear. She did turn a bit pale afterward so they gave her some juice and crackers and had us hang out for a bit.

Hilarie found some more of her independence today. When we were walking into the office, along the sidewalk she said she didn't need to hold my hand. When I was checking her in she wanted to go look at the fish and took off all by herself. When the nurse called her name she was off and running to follow the nurse. It was very precious. Of course when the lady with the white coat and needles came in, she needed me then.

Simple dinner tonight of mac-n-cheese, some cleaning up of the house, some time outside because the sun came out...finally. Just another simple, but crazy day.

Word for the week...injuries

8:06 PM, May. 13, 2009 .. 0 comments .. Link
Sunday...ER with James and his tick friend.
Sunday...Haylee slips and falls on the cement stairs scratching both legs and severly stubbing her big toe, today, Wednesday said toe is still swollen.
Tuesday...Jacob and Joshua bump heads knocking out one of Jacob's teeth. Jacob thinks that tooth was a little loose already.
Wednesday...Jacob bumps James right into the corner of the wall. Huge goose eggs immediately appears.

Ahhhh, the boys are getting older and I do think injuries will be a plenty this summer.

Today was a pretty normal day, I had my normal morning routine which included a workout at the Y.
Schoolwork with everyone today and laundry and picking up toys and helping Hilarie through some rough moments.

Our son-in-law was laid off from his job today so he and Heather came over for dinner. Spaghetti tonight, it was delicious. You just can't beat that nice big jar of Ragu from Coscto.

Season finale of Lost tonight....I am resisting the urge to stay up and watch it. I will DVR it and watch it over the next couple days.

A not normal day...which actually happens more often than not

7:22 PM, May. 12, 2009 .. Posted in Family .. 1 comments .. Link
So we are up and getting the house straightened up so we can start school and a big yellow tractor pulls onto the street. In the past I have called the big yellow tractor a babysitter because my boys will sit outside and just watch. They are working a few doors down and it is really windy and cold today so the boys don't stay out the whole time, but there is a lot of in and out. You just can't get any school work done when there is heavy machinery outside. I learned this along time ago and I don't even try.

Hilarie needs to be held...she is so sweet, when she is hurting because of her skin she will say to me, "I just want to hold you." When she was younger it was, "Hold you." So, I sit to hold her and she falls asleep, at 10:00, not normal but very precious. I have a tractor outside to occupy the boys so I figure I will just enjoy the moment....and then I fall asleep and we wake up at 11:00.

The day seemed to continue on in that way. You know, those kinds of days where it just doesn't feel like anything productive is going on. I am ok with that. I know things were happening. I did get 3 loads of laundry done. The house isn't a wreck. We had a terrific dinner of french toast made my Haylee and Joseph. Those two are so fun to listen to when they are working together. They are just silly.

Well, this is what I would call a non-normal day. One where the things we are "supposed" to do didn't get done, but good stuff did get done. It actually is more normal than not. It is what is like when you have household of children...sometimes you just have to go with the flow.

Weekend in Review

5:05 AM, May. 12, 2009 .. 0 comments .. Link
Mother's day weekend began with a migraine. Left from grocery shopping at Wal-mart at 7am on Saturday and before we were done shopping I had a raging migraine. So much to do.....got home, put the groceries away, do 4 loads of laundry, work on lesson plans and get the house ready for Mother's Day. I don't know how I got through the day, but I did and was exhausted at the head because my head hurt so bad.

Sunday, couldn't go to church because my head still hurts and today we are having the family over for a BBQ. My mom, my brother and his family, 18 people in all. We did have a great day and my headache was at a mild level most of the day. The day ended with a trip to the ER. Not for me, after everyone left James said he had something in his hair. It was a tick....a large tick. We haven't ever had to deal with a tick before and our first thought was that he picked it up on May 2, over 1 week ago, when we went out to the woods to spend the day. Because of the length of time, we headed to the ER. Yuck, yuck, yuck. This was no fun. The ER didn't take too long, we came home and relaxed with Heide, Joseph and Haylee watching an episode of Lost.

Monday, headache still. I do think I would be feeling better if I had been able to take it easy over the weekend, but that wasn't possible. Joseph and Haylee have ortho appointments at 8 am. We get that done, back home and I go to bed at 9:30 to try to sleep my headache away. I don't get up until 12:45. WOW, that is so not normal.

For Mother's Day I got a new scrapbook table. It is awesome. My other one was one that would fold and I really didn't like it because of the fold in the middle of the table. Now that table is going to be the outdoor picnic, camping table.

It is Tuesday morning and my head feels better. I am going to skip my workout this morning because I have so much to catch up on here at home.

Wow, this day ended with a bang

8:07 PM, May. 8, 2009 .. 0 comments .. Link
A busy Friday, I was up early for my normal morning routing. Only did 45 min of cardio at the gym because I have to be at my meeting at 9:30.

Kids have things to do, Friday is not a normal school day for us so the boys will keep busy, most likely with legos. My meeting went great, we got a lot accomplished and I was home from the meeting at 2:30. I had texted Heide for her and Haylee and Hilarie to be ready when I arrived. I picked them up and we went to Costco to pick up some groceries and we were home by 3:30. We do Costco fast. The girls wish we could have taken longer.... samples you know.

4:15 take Heide to work
5:00 Friday night is always cereal night for dinner. It is the kids favorite meal of the week, but not mine (I picked up some Panda after dropping off Heide at work).

After dinner are chores of course includes folding the two loads of laundry that I did manage to get done in my brief stops at home today.

Then just hanging out with kids until bedtime. I love our relaxed evenings, reading to children and talking.

7:15 I leave to get Heide from work and my day takes a turn....on the way home...I turn onto our block and there are 2 girls on one bike. One girl on the handle bars and the driver of the bike I can't see. They aren't on my side of the road...to begin with anyway. But they are swerving so I just stop the car...and watch them head straight for me, hit the car dumping the girl on the handle bars onto the hood of my car. I got out and one girl immediately apologized. I firmly told them how lucky they were that I had stopped the car. I suppose in hindsight, I should have gone to talk to their parents. I got back in the car and felt immediately sick to my stomach. I am so thankful that I had stopped the car. Thank you Jesus, for putting me there at the right time, allowing me to make the decision that kept this from being a horrible event.

Ok, so now I need to print my grocery list for Wal-mart tomorrow and then it is craft night. I think I will put on one of my favorite chick flicks...oh wait, I need to watch this weeks LOST episode. I found some cute Mother's Day cards online, I need to make one for my mom.  Ice cream...yeah, that will make me feel better too. Just a little bit, I don't want to blow all the calories I burned today on ice cream.

Allergies

8:19 PM, May. 7, 2009 .. 1 comments .. Link
If you have a child that has eczema I do recommend allergy testing.

We have had Hilarie tested 3 times for allergies and will be testing her again this summer.

The first time she was tested at 6 months, she was allergic to eggs.
At 18 months she was allergic to eggs and cats
At 2 1/2 she was allergic to eggs, cats, dogs and dairy.

What I have found with her severe eczema is that removing all these things does not make her eczema all better. Sometimes a flare up can be caused, but not always. What is causing her eczema is a way overactive immune system. Seems like it just wants to fight everything.

Stress also causes extreme flair ups. Makes discipline a challenge. We are getting it done, but it is extra challenging for sure.

Last week we went out to the woods to where my hubby likes to camp. Just went for the day, within 1 hour of arriving there, she was getting really blotchy and her face was swelling. We hadn't even eaten lunch yet. Something out there was not good for her. The doc had told us last year camping would not be a good thing for her. During the summer she cannot be outside for more than a few minutes. She becomes red like a tomato.

Her case of eczema is severe, one of the worst her doctors have seen. I have tried many, many, many things and have found things that seem to help for a day or two and then they don't. Last year the dermatologist told me that it is unlikely we will find something to fix this. All we can do is try different things to help her be comfortable.

Hilarie is the sweetest little girl. She is a nurturer, loves to take care of others. I am very thankful that I have older kids who can help out during those times when she needs constant care. Movies are at times the very best thing for her. We put a tv in my daughers room with a VCR just so that Hilarie can watch Pooh when she needs to.

Tator Tot Casserole

8:16 PM, May. 7, 2009 .. 1 comments .. Link
Here is our recipe for Tator Tot Casserole

2 lbs ground beef or turkey
2 small or 1 large can of mushroom soup
onion
Lawry's seasoning
Tator Tots
Grated or sliced cheese

Brown been and onion. Add mushroom soup and stir well.
Layer tator tots into 9 x 13 pan
layer cheese. I like to use grated, but if I don't have grated (because of the price) I just lay slices on the tator tots.
Layer hamburger mixture.
Add another layer of cheese.
Top with tator tots.
Bake at 350 for 1 hour. Top with more cheese for the last few minutes.

Thursday...a bit busier than the rest of this week

8:15 PM, May. 7, 2009 .. 0 comments .. Link
I had to skip my workout this morning because we needed to be out the door at 8:20 for dental appts. for the three older kids. I like to keep dental appointments to a minimum, and that can be a challenge when you have 3 children in braces. Anyway, today just the teens (the younger kids go to a pediatric dentist and there appointment was just 2 weeks ago. I packed a bag of school books for the younger children and we were off. Didn't get home until 10:45 (the dentist is 10 minutes away). It was great....all the little boys got all of their schoolwork done while we were there. Whooo Hoooo!!!!!

The hygienist was so kind...she gave all my little people a goodie from the goodie basket...bouncy balls. I hate those things and when I find them lying around I toss them. I think the boys have figured this out and are doing much better about keeping track of them. We had just gotten them 2 weeks ago at their appointment. I am on bouncy ball overload.

When we got home the children stayed outside to play with their bouncy balls and I transfered the laundry.  Then lunch was prepared and eaten and the afternoon was spent drawing at the table. They boys made a big race track to drive their cars on. Hilarie made lots of pictures for her mommy.

12:45 I need to take Heide to Valley Hospital. She volunteers there in the gift shop. The hospital is less than 10 minutes away...gee, seems like everywhere I go is about 10 minutes away.
1:45 I now leave to take Joseph to Valley Hospital. He volunteers at the information desk. They keep him running there. He wheels patients out to their cars when they are discharged. He runs things to and from one department to another.

Dan has a second job that he works on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. This week they changed his shift, permanently. We aren't sure how this is going to workout but we will do everything we can to make it easier for him. Normally he comes home and leaves right away. Today, he comes home and needs to sleep because he doesn't work until 8. It can be a challenge to sleep during the day in this house. Our room is right below the living room. A fan and earplugs help, but to make sure we are all quiet and I made popcorn and the kids and I will watch Planet Earth until dinner.

5:00 I head over to the hospital to pick up Heide and Joseph.

Dinner tonight is just good ole mac n cheese....from a box. Kids love it. After dinner we do the regular chores and the weekly scrubbing. Tonight I scrub the bathroom...thank goodness we only have one!!!
Haylee scrubs the kitchen. Joshua and Jonathan do the dining room, Jacob does an extra good job on vacuuming the living room and hall. Whew, house is clean and smells good.

Kids are now in bed and I am finishing this blog post, I will do another to answer questions that are posted in the comments and then I will head to bed.

This to me is a busy day. I try to keep these to one a week, this week I didn't succeed. Have another busy day tomorrow. Have a great Friday!!!!

Today is Wednesday....I am loosing steam.

7:39 PM, May. 6, 2009 .. 2 comments .. Link
I like Mondays. It is a new beginning, I am not behind on anything, ready to tackle the week...by Wednesday I feel like I am loosing some of that momentum.

4:00
up and having my quiet time.
5:00 time for ministry again. I really gotta get ready for the board meeting. I am gonna have to carve out some extra time to do that. But not today, cuz I really want to scrap so
5:45 I continue working on my power layouts while watching Dancing with the Stars....wow, what a suprise that was. Oh, I start a load of a laundry of course. You may wonder why on earth I start my laundry so early in the morning. I hate having laundry take all day. It is the one thing I just haven't been able to get over. I have learned how to slow my day down in so many other ways, laundry, I just haven't gotten there yet. Plus, my teens know that the machine is always available for them to use in the afternoon.
6:30 Clean up my room, and head upstairs to get all my littles out of their beds.
6:55 The kids have their breakfast and I am out the door to the gym. We are members of the YMCA and it is less than 10 minutes from our house. Oh, Heide works there too, in the child watch center.
8:45 Back home to get Heide and take her to work, Hilarie goes along for the ride. The price of gas is sure creeping up again. What is up with that? Had to put gas in the car after dropping off Heide.
9:15 Shower, and get going on school with the boys. They add did good with their independent work again, so today we spend extra time on some weak areas they have. Quite a few interruptions this morning with the littlest of my littles. That is always to be expected and the children at the table know that they are to keep working while I handle training and retraining. :)
11:00 History and Bible with the children. We have been learning some simple catechism questions and I am always surprised at how much they remember, even Hilarie, age 3, remembers some of them.
11:30 Joshua makes lunch and we do our clean-up before we eat. I like the house tidied up whenever possible before we sit down to a meal. So, before every meal we all work together and tidy the dining room, living room, hallway, Hilarie's, room and then the boys room. Takes all of 10 minutes usually and actually stays clean about 30...because everyone is at the table eating.
12:30 After lunch chores are getting done and today this includes emptying every garbage can in the house. Tomorrow is garbage day so we also take the cans and recycling bins to the street.
1:00 I go to the bread store and get 10 loaves of bread on my way to get Heide from work.
1:30 School time with James and Hilarie. They are just too cute.
2:30 Tator tot casserole for dinner tonight. Hilarie puts the tator tots in the pan while Jonathan is browning the hambuger.  It takes about 30 minutes to put it together with my helpers ( I could do it in 5). I find that if I do the prep early then it is a pleasure to have little hands helping.  While we are in the kitchen Joshua and Jacob play on the Wii. It has been cold and damp and we have had several days where the children haven't gone outside...so today I had to turn the Wii on. Each boy will get about a 30 minute turn.

Dinner was a hit, as Tator Tot Casserole always is. I think only one child doesn't like it.

It is 7:30 now and Dan just took Hilarie for a drive. At about 6:45 she began having an "itching episode" (for lack of a better name). I guess it is a reaction...but we have no idea to what. When this happens, she itches intensely. She is in pain, she cries and just wants to be held but she is so uncomfortable holding her even seems to hurt. This is something we have dealt with since she was 6 months old and these episodes used to be daily, several times a day. The real bad episodes come less frequently which is a blessing but they are so painful for me as a mom. The thing now as she has gotten older that is really difficult is that I expect her to still be nice. Let me explain, I know she hurts and it is unbearable. This is very likely something she will have to deal with her whole life. I don't want her to think that it is ok to me demanding or rude just because she doesn't feel good. I keep lots of cold water right by my side when she is like this and tonight at one point she yelled I want a drink. I actually withheld that drink until she was able, through her tears, to ask for a drink, please. She did it. Golly it was so hard for me.

Well, I am turning off the computer for the night now. Busy day tomorrow with....wait. I am not going to tell you. You will have to check back tomorrow to see what my definition of a "busy" day is.

Another Day..pretty much the same as the day before

7:20 PM, May. 5, 2009 .. 0 comments .. Link
So today really was very similar to yesterday.
4:15 I got up and had my quiet time
5:00 At my desk to do some homeschool support group stuff. Answered a few e-mails and started my report for this week's board meeting
5:45 Start a load of laundry and then scrapping, continued working on power layouts. I have 10 pages ready to put together on the 16th.  I need to have at least 20 ready for that night.
6:30 Clean my room, make the bed and stuff like that.
6:45 kiddos up and get them their breakfast
6:55 Out the door and heading to the gym. Again, 1 hour of cardio and strength training...legs today
8:40 Back home, start another load of laundry and take Heide to work
9:00 shower and then have some Bible time with the children
9:45 Put the last load of laundry in and begin schooling with Joshua
All the boys did excellent with their independent work folders this morning. School will go very fast, but unfortunately it isn't  the nicest day outside. It is cold and windy and raining off and on.
Joshua and I go over the work in his folder and I then go over the assignments I am putting in for tomorrow. He has a math worksheet, he is adding double digits with carrying, a handwriting page and a alphabetizing page for language. We do reading together and we are done.
10:30 Put the last load of laundry into the dryer and then Jacob and I go over his independent work folder and I put in tomorrow's math and handwriting. Then I do the same with Jonathan. For reading I work with both boys together.
11:30 I read History to the boys. Today our story was about Christopher Columbus.
12:00 lunch and chores, which includes putting away the laundry.
12:30 Hilarie watches the Backyardigans while I tidy up my office.
1:15 leave to get Heide from work
1:45 School with James and Hilarie. This isn't serious schooling, I do this just to establish the routine, or the idea of doing school everyday.
2:30 Dad's home, chaos now will reign for a little while. Haylee and I go downstairs to work on scanning some photos that Hollie needs for the wedding that is in less than two months.
4:30 Time to make dinner. Tonight, spaghetti and 3 loaves of garlic bread.
6:00 Dan is reading Narnia to the children and I sneak away downstairs to do some more scanning.
6:30 I can't believe I got all the pics done today. I really thought this job would take several days. All scanned and burned to a CD. Yes, one big job for the wedding done.
Hilarie is having a difficult time with her skin lately. Lots of holding is necessary just to try to keep her from scratching. Bedtime can be difficult when she is having lots of skin problems.
7:30 Here I am blogging. I guess I didn't really finish yesterdays. I go to bed around 9 and usually turn the computer off about 8:00. So, this is pretty much the end of my day. I will spend some time talking with the teens and going over their school work, answering any questions they have a stuff like that.

Thanks for reading. I think doing this journal of my day is a good way for me to get back into blogging. Seems I expanded on my day a bit more today. Bear with me while I get back into the groove.

My day today

8:20 PM, May. 4, 2009 .. Posted in Family .. 1 comments .. Link
So many people ask me how I do it and I honestly don't know what to say. I don't think I do that much! We do keep life pretty simple.

Here is what my day today was like.

4:15 am up and out of bed.
5:00 work on ministry...I am a board member of our local homeschool support group and I handle the e-mail that comes in and changes to the website.
5:45 start a load of laundry and then scrapbook time, today I worked on power layouts for Jacobs 2007 photos. I have a scrapbook night coming up and I like to have all my page supplies ready to go so that I can travel light.
6:30 clean my room
6:45 younger children up and get their breakfast for them (we have cereal and toast)
7:00 out the door and off to the gym for 1 hour of cardio and strength training
While I am gone, the children finish breakfast, get dressed, brush their teeth, do their chores, clean their rooms and then play quietly until I get back home.
8:40 home, start another load of laundry and head right back out to take Heide to work
9:00 shower
9:20 begin school with Joshua, we begin with Math then Language, Reading and Handwriting
10:00 begin the last load of laundry for today
10:30 begin school with Jonathan and Jacob, Reading first, Language, Math and Handwriting
11:30 Haylee makes lunch while I read History to the 4 younger boys
12:00 lunch, chores which includes folding laundry
1:00 leave to pick up Heide from work
1:30 school with Hilarie and James. This involves coloring, counting, learning shapes and stuff like that.
the rest of the afternoon is just spent doing whatever with the children.
4:30 I begin making dinner..tonight...gasp...Hamburger Helper. Like I said I keep it simple and we have a helper about 2 times a week.
Dinner and chores.
5:30 I make peanut butter cookies while the children watch a Planet Earth episode with daddy.
6:30 quiet time with kiddos reading books, chatting.
7:00 Hilarie, Jacob and James go to bed. Hilarie needs some extra holding before bed tonight as she is pretty itchy.
7:30 Joshua and Jonathan go to bed.
Now I am here, blogging, something I don't get around to very much because I just don't make the time.
I also need to print some worksheets for the boys school tomorrow. I have put some assignments in their folders that they can work on while I am at the gym.

Maybe I should do this everyday this week. It might be interesting, for me, to look back and see my week in writing.

What My Mother Taught Me

4:00 PM, Feb. 13, 2009 .. 0 comments .. Link
I found this on the internet and it amazes me how alike we as mothers are. We do have our differences of course, but when you look at these 25 statements how many of them did your mother say to you and how many of them do you say to your children?

1. My mother taught me TO APPRECIATE A JOB WELL DONE "If you're going to
kill each other, do it outside. I just finished cleaning."

2. My mother taught me RELIGION.
"You better pray that will come out of the carpet."

3 My mother taught me about TIME TRAVEL.
"If you don't straighten up, I'm going to knock you into the middle of
next week!"

4. My mother taught me LOGIC.
" Because I said so, that's why."

5. My mother taught me MORE LOGIC
"If you fall out of that swing and break your neck, you're not going to
the store with me."

6. My mother taught me FORESIGHT.
"Make sure you wear clean underwear, in case you're in an accident."

7. My mother taught me IRONY
"Keep crying, and I'll give you something to cry about."

8. My mother taught me about the science of OSMOSIS.
"Shut your mouth and eat your supper."

9. My mother taught me about CONTORTIONISM.
"Will you look at that dirt on the back of your neck!"

10 My mother taught me about STAMINA.
"You'll sit there until all that spinach is gone."

11. My mother taught me about WEATHER.
"This room of yours looks as if a tornado went through it."

12. My mother taught me about HYPOCRISY.
"If I told you once, I've told you a million times. Don't exaggerate!"

13. My mother taught me the CIRCLE OF LIFE.
"I brought you into this world, and I can take you out."

14. My mother taught me about BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION.
"Stop acting like your father!"

15. My mother taught me about ENVY.
"There are millions of less fortunate children in this world who don't
have wonderful parents like you do."

16. My mother taught me about ANTICIPATION.
"Just wait until we get home."

17. My mother taught me about RECEIVING.
"You are going to get it when you get home!"

18. My mother taught me MEDICAL SCIENCE.
"If you don't stop crossing your eyes, they are going to freeze that
way."

19. My mother taught me ESP.
"Put your sweater on; don't you think I know when you are cold?"

20. My mother taught me HUMOR.
"When that lawn mower cuts off your toes, don't come running to me."

21. My mother taught me HOW TO BECOME AN ADULT.
"If you don't eat your vegetables, you'll never grow up."

22. My mother taught me GENETICS.
"You're just like your father."

23. My mother taught me about my ROOTS.
"Shut that door behind you. Do you think you were born in a barn?"

24. My mother taught me WISDOM.
"When you get to be my age, you'll understand."

25. And my favorite: My mother taught me about JUSTICE "One day you'll
have kids, and I hope they turn out just like you!"

Let's all remember to tell our mothers that we love them.

Today we are sitting at the table. I am watching boys turn crayons into guns and tanks and swords.

Hilarie, she has her crayons standing up while she holds them and they are talking to each other.

How precious is the difference between boys and girls!!!

Happy Birthday Heather!!!

This song can have different meanings for each of us. For me, I imagine arriving home in Heaven to meet my Lord.
